Stop with this meme. The Gameboy only ever had Nintendo games. Go research the top selling Gameboy titles; 41 of the top 50 were published by Nintendo. Most of the major Nintendo franchise have or soon will have titles on the Switch. If the Switch truly is a handheld, then it is following the Nintendo model for handheld success. Any 3rd party games it gets would just be extras that Nintendo handhelds don't normally get.

Xbox wins by default because of BC. This gen has no good games worth playing, so being able to replay old games on modern hardware on a unified platform, its nice. I didn't have any current consoles until Microsoft announced BC features in 2015. So glad Xbox games are coming back too.

Mario is probably the only legitimate thing on there, followed by Arms being some exhibition mash up of Punch Out and Splatoon, and Splatoon 2 itself which is like a refinement sequel (remember they pulled the plug on the seasonal event shit pretty early). Don't get me wrong, everything from Zelda to Mario and everything in between is very solid for Switch, but don't make it sound like it came from out of nowhere. It's because the Wii U was actually that bad where Nintendo had to edge their load for god knows how long.

But referring to this time as just "Around 6 years into Generation 8" I'd say this gen was pretty bad for everyone outside of Sony.
Sony made a console with some exclusives.
Had the best hardware until now and charged $100 less than Xbox.
Xbox tried to fight game resale and ended up fucking customers and back peddled way too late on that.
Tried to bundle their system with their dumb gimmicky eye-toy and again back peddled far too slowly.
Lost exclusives because Microsoft wanted people switching to their crappy new operating system.

2013 - 16 was so abhorrent for consoles that WiiU was the best of the new crop and the smartest thing to do overall was stick to PS3 but 2017 has seen PS4 hit a proper stride, Switch looks more promising for Nintendo than WiiU was, and Xbone continues to be the nonentity that it always was. This gen might actually bow out gracefully at this rate, was not expecting that 2 years ago. That all said, both handhelds are pretty good. Not as good as their predecessors perhaps but still good.

For me it was titles like Gravity Rush 2, Resident Evil 7 and Nier Automata but there's been others lately like The Last Guardian, Yakuza 0, Nioh and if one is so inclined Horizon Zero Dawn. I'll be honest with you, the price drop that came with the Pro also has a lot to do with it - I still don't think a PS4 is worth $400 but there's enough going on now to where I think a Slim is worth $250, which is about what I paid for mine. Basically It's getting games at a steady clip now and it's pretty cheap for a Slim so it's not that bad of a buy anymore, especially if you like weeb games and I don't mind a few here and there myself.

Honestly the worst console generation by far, because differences between consoles are nonexistant. Only costly licensing deals matter.

Now with the Switch entering the arena, there's a chance of Japanese devs being even more spread thin, and the few Japanese exclusive PS4 games will be developed in downgraded fashion to make porting to Switch easier.

PC doujin games are finding vastly better profits than comiket and specialty shop distribution, thanks to Steam. That's starting a slow boil that's spreading to hardcore gamers in Japan, partially due to the success of streaming PC games. The hardcore weeaboo who only care about Japanese games are going to migrate more to PC I think in coming years, and consoles will become even more homogeneous without the waning Japanese support.

Gravity Daze really isn't that damn good. It's average, people just list it like you did because it's one of the few exclusives to a thinly padded list.

Of those, I'd say Bloodborne is the best hands down. P5 is good, but also on PS3 and may get a PC port (like Crash). Digimon games are pretty nice.

All-in-all a pretty sparse list I think. Compared to last gen, it's tiny, and doesn't justify me buying yet another consumer electronic box just to play those games. As far as Weeb games go, I tend to lean toward doujin games, which are almost exclusively on PC in large supply.

In terms of games, it's about on par with PS3 for me. Took a few years but it's built up a decent library of exclusives, lots of Vita ports as well. If you don't like Japanese games you'll hate it. Console itself takes several steps backwards from the PS3, UI is significantly worse, paying for online sucks even if the service is somewhat better, media playback features are gimped, no PS1/PS2 support is retarded.
