Goku, Gohan, & Vegeta need to be simplistic and similar because everybody will use them. Even then, just from footage you can see they're different; they are Ryu, Ken, & Akuma, respectively.

To say the villains are all the same as the other characters is bullshit. Cell is a lot less projectile heavy than the other 5 and has a lot of forward horizontal momentum in his moveset. Frieza seems built around capitalizing on mistakes made in neutral. Buu has a handful of unique quirks and mid-range options including a few unique projectiles (one of which is a hit-grab), a defensive reversal in Cartwheel, a regular normal that hits overhead, and a Level 1 Super that hits full-screen and seems perfect for use in frame traps and reading teleport attacks.

PLUS the game's producer stated that those 6 are the most basic in the game anyway. So calm down.

You'd think so, but even some top Marvel players just learn their main duo and do some basic shit with their assist character. Only the very best actually have main-level proficiency with their whole team.

It's why Justin Wong does so well with a markedly mid-tier team; he learned all 3 inside and out and learned how to use any permutation of the team from all 3 to any combo of 2 to any single character solo. He's the best Akuma, the best Storm (the ONLY Storm, really), and a Top 5 Wolverine in a meta with some fucking NASTY Wolverine players.

Most of the rest just use a character that they can do some X-Factor Unga Bunga with and has a good assist. It's a mentality a lot of people use because it's hard to actually main your entire team. I'm no top player, but even I fell for that formula; I main my Hulk/Dormammu duo, and I settled on Sentinel as an anchor because he's easy to use and Drones are SO good for Hulk & Dorm.

I think Infinite's going to do fine, but the initial fall-out makes Capcom look bad. Especially after SFV's reception, where people only put up with it because nothing else is available. This is a competently made Dragon Ball fighting game, striking at a time when Capcom's looking very vulnerable. I wouldn't rule it out, though most likely, Infinite/SFV will coexist with DBF if it does catch on as intended.

To be honest if he were in I think he'd have a pretty cool fighting style if he were to make it in. Fuck in the Budokai games his style seemed kinda cool. If done right his Roga fu fu ken/wolf fang fist as well as his other wolf inspired moves can be cool as fuck. Man, he even got an insert song in dragon ball. I know this is a DB FighterZ thread, but can I grill Marvel some more? Have anyone noticed how there's next to no villains in the game's roster so far? You only see heroes on Capcom and Marvel's side, so far only Ultron is a villain in the roster, because even Thanos looks like he's going to be fighting for the good guys.

And I think this is going to heavily affect the alrady mediocre looking story mode in an even more negative way, because you'll most likely spend most of the story beating up generic mooks than the game's actual roster.

The anime has it's own weekly schedule while the manga comes out monthly. The manga covers a lot per chapter but it still got behind. The anime is starting the Tournament of Power in the next few episodes while the manga is nearing the end of the previous arc.
Toriyama writes the general plot and notes. Toyotaro fills in the rest and draws the manga.
Toei has its own team entirely that does its own thing. Toyo has almost nothing to do with what they do aside from maybe extra notes or help with designs with Toriyama.
Toyo works more closely with Toriyama and has a lot more of his sensibilities when it comes to writing while Toei is prone to doing whatever sounds fun, which can bite them in the ass sometimes.

For example, to defeat a skilled hitman named Hit in a small tournament with their sister universe Goku did completely different things to win in each. In the anime he used Kaioken while in SSJB to completely overpower him and his time stop ability. In the manga, he used SSJG instead to conserve his stamina so that he could learn Hit's movements and predict his movements during his time stop ability. There are many differences like this all throughout.

For most DBZ games they're just fan wanks and some people like certain forms of characters more than others. For example, when I played Budokai 3/Infinite World I'd always just leave Goku with normal SSJ because I didn't like the other forms.

This game doesn't get the same criticism however. This one is aiming to be an actual legit competitive level fighting game with a DBZ coat of paint. You simply won't have the option of choosing the best canon version of a character because all characters are going to be balanced around each other so Super Vegeta from the Cell Saga will be fighting on an even footing with Golden Frieza even though canonically it makes no sense.

Demo was shit but the opinions I've heard from people who played the built with a vs mode were way better.
At least gameplay wise I don't see any huge issue aside from some gems that might end up being too OP.
