nah, Nintendo are just extremely cheap kikes. Apple, Samsun, Sony, Huawei&co. offered the manufacturers better deals for certain components and Nintendo was literally too kikerish and cheap to keep up.

This proves that Nintendo is just an autistic kid trying to play with the adults.

It's okay if you dont like the games, but I'm actually really looking foward to a lot of them.

Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, and Xenoblade 2.
I also enjoyed the original Pokken and I already have ARMs and Zelda, which have been decent fun.
Honestly I am really looking foward to the Mario+Rabbids too. For some reason the gameplay looks fun, and the characters ended up being more charming than "raw memes" like the leaks made me think

Literal children (Nintendo's primary audience despite the advertisements) that doesn't have the dexterity of an adult. Go watch a five year old play with anything. There are a lot more "oops"s than you remember from when you were a kid.

>>381162256
>and a more mature media like movies and books actually don't latch to an specific audience.

There have been two times where I was strongly tempted to buy a Switch but they were out of stock so I didn't bother impulse buying one. The first was right after launch when Zelda was getting a lot of praise and the second was during E3 when we saw more of Mario Odyssey and Prime 4 got announced. Either way I'm not desperate to buy one right now at this moment so it's Nintendo's loss.

>>
>>381162496
Those games are aimed at everyone. Cinematic games are even more normie tier mainly cause they arent hard and are meant to give a more passive experience, so they can be enjoyed by anyone. In fact, games with more gameplay in them will more than likely be enjoyed by a kid audience.

The problem here in the industry is lacking that adult coverage while also provided gameplay that doesn't treat you like an idiot, which is a narrow field of games available right now. It's why games like the Souls series, for a time, was hot with a niche audience. It hit the point of being a dungeon crawler with an expanded experience than previous games.

I know what makes sense business wise. Doesn't mean I can't be upset about it. If Nintendo wanted, they could invest in games tailored to the old NES-SNES crowd who grew up with them. But we're left disappointed every year cause they no longer make games for us. In fact, I can tell their game development has fallen behind over the recent years, probably due to shortening their budgets to keep profit margins high. A zelda with no dungeons, little music, and hardly any depth to its world? That would have never flew in 2000 Nintendo. Instead, Nintendo now has an army of normies and casuals ready to defend their every decision, which is why people like myself cannot vote with our wallets. The normies outnumber us.

Of course scalpers are still selling them, and above MSRP. That's the point.
Those switches would be sold out with or without scalpers because the demand is insanely high right now.

Switch has near Wii levels of demand, we'll know where it's at after Christmas. I imagine if Nintendo can't work things out with their NAND manufacturer they'll offer to pay them extra just for the holidays to actually meet some demand.

Amazon doesn't have any from Nintendo right now. Their system shows store-ends from secondary sellers when they're out of stock. You're looking at scalper prices.

Gamestop forces you to buy Switches in bundles with other stuff to total around $400 to increase their profit per console. Not as bad as paying a scalper $400 for just the Switch, but they're still taking advantage of the situation.

Supply constraints just means they sell 10-15 million by March instead of 20 million like they wanted to.

The initial people might stop complaining, but the new ones wouldn't. It would be something that was consistently brought up as a downside of the console, and everyone would be constantly recommended to buy a screen protector.
The dock scratching thing was a complete myth.

Nintendo 'forced the scarcity' in that they didn't want to pay double for production and lose money on each Switch sold. Not to mention they'd just be put in a bidding war with Apple for priority production, which Apple would outbid them on.

a few people online claimed to have them, you are talking about well below 1% of the people who brought a switch, well within the margin of error for manufacturing defects, the one thing that was a build issue was the blue joycon desync issues which was itself fixed for free by nintendo, an error that they took full responsibility for.

Like I said, if you want to wait for the probability of getting a defective unit to reach 0 or not buy at all fine, but the issue appears to be far more common than it really is, or Nintendo would have issued a statement, like the blue joycon issue, which still affected few customers.
>>
>>381169858
I'm honestly curious how much of the reason behind that is true or false, considering apple hasn't or anyone else hasn't made a statement on that at all. If a company makes an excuse for something, always take it with a grain of salt.
>>
>>381169960

I don't think there are going to be any miracle deals this year. Stores are selling out so quickly that they have zero incentive to give people bargain prices. Any bundles are going to be around the same price as paying for the console and whatever else is in it, anyway.

I don't think the price is dropping any time soon, so I'd say buy it now if you want it, but only if you can find it for the retail price. Don't pay scalpers for one.
>>
>>381172812
The things is that by then the scenario might be even worse, and only God knows what will be of Black Friday and its consumerism frenzy.

If you can get one now, do it. Unless you are really waiting for a specific game or joycon colors. Don't expect a bundle, not for the US at least
>>
If this is Apple's fault, then why was Nintendo talking about how they were flying over all these new units to get them back on the shelves? Now, all the sudden other people using up the components are to blame? Doesn't compute.

Nintendo was using planes to ship units in March, the launch month. Back then, they had extra stock of units because they had several months to manufacture and save up units. Now, that stock has been depleted, and it's manufacturing, not shipping, that's limiting the stock. Also, none of these reports are coming from Nintendo, but other industry sources.
>>
>>381173153
Well that's the thing..I don't WANT one just yet. But I feel as though if I wait too long, I'll be screwed.

My local game shop does get regular stock, though.
>>
I think it will be more than the end of the year. I wouldn't expect supply to start meeting demand until next summer.
>>
>not just waiting for two years to see if Nintendo fixes their mess and have games for their console

It took the Wii U at least two years to start getting a supply of games. That seems to be the best time to do any purchase decisions.
>>
>>381173826
Well, if you don't want one now, then it should be okay to wait. The shortages are going to last a while, but the consoles aren't going away forever. Don't feel pressured to buy it before you want it because of the shortages.
>>

>>381174127

These companies need to be setting us waiting lists and deposits. So people don't have to keep checking stores and websites. Better yet, do it themselves on a website run by Nintendo and skip retailers ... the main problem with a shortage is that it's frustrating as hell to people that want one, and ultimately hurts you as a company. The least they could do is let people pay a deposit to guarantee a spot in line so they won't have to keep looking and getting even more frustrated.

Because Nintendo under-produced them to make them rare and seem more valuable. People conveniently forget that the Wii U was also "selling out" everywhere for the first few months. It's like how GameStop encourages people to pre-order by only stocking one or two non-pre-order copies of a game.

Also, the Switch is what the Wii U should have been which means it actually has some appeal, so not only is it underproduced but it's also selling better than the Wii U ever did so it's a double whammy. Makes me want to get one next time I see one but I'm still not totally sold on it yet. Part of me just wants to re-play old games and wait for Switch 2.0 or PS5.

People keep repeating this, but it's just not true. The Wii U had a sales speak on release because of the holiday season. It's sales for the next 3 quarters added up to that single 4th quarter when it was released.

While it's not super-healthy sales trend, it never - at any point - bombed/tanked/crashed. Its sales were steady and consistent. It's the hardcore nerds on the internet that were unstable and just spouting shit. Normies were all perfectly happy with it.

It's like how people on the internet think that most white girls love black cock, when in outside in the real world it's probably less than 10% of western white women that would even curiously consider dating a black man. The internet is full of shit.

No, Wii U was doing pretty badly outside of Japan after the holidays. NPD numbers for the US were:

2012/11 - 430,000
2012/12 - 460,000
2013/1 - 55,000
2013/2 - 64,000

Switch current numbers are:
2017/3 - 906,000
2017/4 - 280,000
2017/5 - Unknown, but still sold out

So its initial launch month was higher than Wii U's 6-week holiday season, and it's continued to sell in the hundreds of thousands monthly where Wii U was selling less than 100,000.
>>
>>381178108
The main reason the Wii U failed was because most people thought it was a Wii peripheral
>>
>>381178048
It's been something most people have known about Nintendo for a while. A google search gives you tons of results that can be traced back to the Wii even.

What fucking shortages are people talking about? I think around here there were maybe hard to come by for like the first week, but Wal-Mart alone has their shelves full of them. I think the only place that doesn't have any is EB Games (it's the Gamestop of Canada), but they're shit so they don't count.

It's pretty normal for sales numbers to drop after the launch rush. Nothing unusual. Switch's numbers are difficult to compare directly because it didn't launch in the holiday season, and its supply is a lot smaller than the demand for it, but the numbers are still rather high.

In the UK there are 0 Switches among the large retailers. The last batch Argos got consisted of just 4 units. I have a friend that works for Argos that said they are expecting a new batch around the end of July. But it's looking like it's going to be a lot smaller than it should be and almost half will instantly go out to backorders. Scalpers will pick up a chunk leaving almost none. It can't fly off the shelves if there are none.
>>
>>381186849
The wii was in short supply for years after its release though. My mom couldn't get ahold of one until ~2008, and I remember one of my teachers saying she asked someone to set one aside for her around christmas of 07.
>>
>>381187919
>le artificial scarcity
They underproduced them because they weren't sure if they would sell after the Wii U, and now they sold significantly better than they expected and they can't keep up with the momentum. It's still Nintendo's fault but it's not something they did intentionally.
>>
>>381188264

nintendo has to be the worst console just because they persistently and intentionally empower scalpers

>we only printed 100 of these games so you can buy them off amazon resellers for twice the price :)

>>
>>381189713

>>
>>381189713
Yes, they must be intentionally screwing themselves out of millions of sales from short supply. Never mind the countless news sources detailing the industry-wide shortage of NAND memory required to manufacture Switch consoles. It's all because they want scalpers to hoard their consoles instead of people who would actually be buying their games. A most clever plan.

>>
>>381187778
They can still do it. We just don't know what variables will affect the Switch's sales in Japan, Asia and the US.

Only concern currently is whether my NTDOY stock is rising because of NVIDIAs rise, or it's just self-drive. Im hedging my bets though.
>>
>>381189713
So much this. About 98% of the limited stock within the UK right now is in the hands of scalpers. If I was to buy from a scalper I could have one today. From a major retailer? Autumn, maybe. But we just know scalpers are ready for the next small batch the UK gets. This whole thing is a fucking mess.
