The game is alright, community is a steaming pile of shit for reasons I wont even bother getting into. Played for 3 years and got gud then pulled the plug because the community and the mapping grew unbearable. Just stay away

You mean Ouendan/EBA? The games with HORRIBLE synching and you had to get used to the ass backwards rhythm before being good at the game? Ever played 2007-2008 osu maps? Those played like the DS games and as such are pretty much banned from multiplayer from how abysmal they are. They changed the ranking standards afterwards.

The DS games also don't have player-made maps or mods to increase/decrease score. Why would you even think it's better?

Someone explain the appeal of Osu! to me. Aren't you just sitting there, pressing a button all the time? How is that fun? Why not learn how to play a real instrument with all that time spent pressing that one key?

They are not hard, they are as difficult as they used to be with only a few more gimmicks. Some of the newer maps however are just a shitpost that was approved because the mapper is popular and has their own circlejerk that cries with the mapper when it's denied and has bad feedback; which then they use the "subjective mapping" argument. I just want this game to get nuked because QAT and BN's bend over backwards and ignore fundamental mapping rules from all the backlash.

Buuullshit, I used to be able to S a maps' hardest difficulty regularly, nowadays they have batshit insane jumping and streams that tell me I have to get a tablet. Not to mention back then nobody used AR10. Maps have definetely gotten harder over time.

Not just ranked maps but approved maps too bar a few exceptions like Shotgun Symphony.

The beatmaps are made by the community. Sometimes you'll find a good one, sometimes you'll find complete and utter shit that somehow got approved.

What did I miss? You claimed they were as hard as they used to be which is extremely wrong considering maps back then were much simpler overall. Each time a map would get ranked I usually could S rank it with ease.

Oh that's one way of measuring it. With the new star rating that goes from 1-10 rather than 1-5 you can see maps back then had a lower one than the ones today.
