So what the fuck was ever the point of the new secondary and tertiary stats?

Is there any actual reason anybody playing the game would think something like Versatility or Leech were interesting stats? Multistrike and Speed, I could understand because those are somewhat fun, but the others suck and Multistrike ended up getting removed for some reason. I thought everybody just liked having Haste and Crit on their gear? Hell, even Mastery is a boring stat because all it seems to do for people is increase their damage output/effectiveness for each spec. I still don't know why it was ever added because it was never a stat that altered your gameplay in any interesting way.

I personally liked that very few people achieved those things. I made it to AQ, but never set foot in Naxx, thought it was awesome seeing people who did though. It was pretty impressive when you saw high warlords or grand marshals, or people in T2+ gear because all of that was rare, despite in the current age not being super difficult to obtain for a dedicated player. Seeing someone with an Ashbringer on the server and hearing about the event that happens when you take it to the monastery in hushed whispers was fucking amazing and added to the mystery of the world.

And that's really what's missing from current Warcraft. Content is released, and it's expected that 100% of active players will see it in some form at some point. It cheapens the experience for everyone when that's the case, meaning there's nothing really impressive when someone clears even the most difficult of raids or achieves something lengthy because nearly everyone and their mother has now, and the ones that haven't have seen an easier version of it.

After DH there is a HUGE power gap to the rest of the classes, but keep in mind that warlock, mage, shaman and priest are all very close to each other. Druid is the weakest of the classes capable of arcane or holy magic because they are very weak, offensively. Their greatest ability is to regenerate the land and themselves. The rest of the classes have either no magic of any kind, or little magic, and as such are the 'peasants' of the power pyramid. Hunter is king of the peasants because of its ranged ability more than anything, and because of the nature of Hati.

Mages STRONGEST canon weapon is probably Aluneth, and Aluneth is very weak compared to Frostmourne's shards, Ashbringer, and whatever the fuck the DH artifacts are called.

Plus mages do very little except putter around in their library.

The irony is that arcane magic is EXTREMELY effective against demons, for reasons I won't get into here since it would take too much space, and yet arcane is so difficult to control, canonically speaking, that Holy magic and even other Fel magic has exceeded it in usefulness, just because of ease of use.

As bad as vanilla was, it still the tightest, most concise experience. You start off right from wc3 as some scrub wearing tatters the progress to a bandit or a mecenary then finally some retarded dragonkiller anime character and it's all reflected in your gear. Everything made sense aesthetically and the gameplay reflected it.

In retail right now, you can run into a a level 20 character on a Core hound (a giant flaming fucking dog that can only be obtained by an end game character they obviously had) who's wearing level 60 warlock gear. It looks like shit. You have to either forget vanilla wow, not played it ( which, unfortunately, is typically the case now), or be able to lay blankets of extra immersion to make it make sense to your experience.

I'm getting a feeling that more people are on private servers rather than retail right now. The game has been out for more than a decade. You killed the Lich King almost a decade ago. Many players were in their early teens or even younger. Those vintage characters carry so many accolades and achievements that it isn't special as it used to or just too damn old.

On a private server, you just recreate the phase of the game you liked the best. It may not be the genuine experience but wtf right? You're having more fun which should be the prerogative over progression

Not really, there are few notably BFG one's.
Naaru on a stick and Elemental Shaman fist are very powerful, and have purpose beyond being weapons.

Brewmaster monks have one of the more... mundane and powerless weapons I'd have to say.

It's a branch of the the first tree taken by Keeper Freya and used as a walking stick before it was given to the monkey king as a gift for being such a clever prick, no bullshit mystical abilities included.

You are discounting the wielder in both of your objections.

A. Aegwynn defeated Sargeras' avatar with the help of Aluneth, but the majority of the power needed came from her, because she was a Guardian. Aluneth is strong among weapons, but is no match for Sargeras or his avatar alone. AEGWYNN defeated the avatar. Not Aluneth. Also Aluneth CONSTANTLY rebelled against her control until she figured out how to bind it.

If Ashbringer, and one with at least some parity with Aegywnns natural power as a Guardian (aka the Highlord - the Paladin Highlord is empowered by the faith of all his followers, lorewise), I feel confident that they could have defeated the Avatar as well.

As for the Titan artifacts, yes they are of greater power than normal weapons. Truthguard also falls in this category, as a Titan artifact, but the ones who wield them are too weak to be put anywhere near the other classes. Warriors and hunters have no in-born or inherent power of their own, they are literally ordinary mortals with no magic to buttress them. Their weapons may be strong (though still not anywhere near the likes of Ashbringer or even Aluneth), but the hand the wields them is weak.

Also, lore-wise, we as the player characters are considered to have won all the raid fights without dying.

Since you have clearly not played the games, I shall enlighten you.

The earliest mention of the Naaru is during the events of Illidans visit to Outland where he meets the Broken for the first time. They tell him about how they were conquered by the Orcs and their world split; and more importantly, how they were refugees from the burning legion, and they were helped by THE NAARU.

TBC did not invent the fucking Naaru. However, the first time that we as the players physically SAW a Naaru was in TBC, if you don't count the crystal that Ashbringer was made out of it, which many speculate to be the remains of a collapsed Naaru.
