Anyone else planning on preordering The Elder Scrolls™ V: Skyrim™ VR? Me, personally, I cannot wait.

That's a strange looking screenshot. Are you sure that's Minecraft?

What makes Ocarina of Time so good?
ocarina of time: Majoras Mask
>>381132808
I really, really, like guild wars 1. It's my favorite game of all time and I like it more then OoT.
I honestly never got into this much. I mean sure it's a fun game and probably revolutionary for the time but it by no means is the best of all time especially when compared to games today.

That's a good question, why does everyone treat this game like it's some sort of god of games?
I mean, it's great, but it's not the best thing ever.

Ha, I had an argument with him on Youtube about him claiming that "Thief 2 is mathematically better than Thief 1". What an idiot. I'm going for a masters in Mathematics, I doubt he knows what mathematics actually is.

Nostalgiafag manchildren is why. Even the most die hard Zelda fan can see how badly OoT aged.
>>381138306
He's just trolling.

Because no game ever made was a bigger case of, "Right place, right time." Graphics were fantastic for their time, gameplay was new and exciting for the franchise, and gamers were still relatively young and starry-eyed at the time instead of being as jaded, cynical, and selfish as they are now.
>>381138306
Anyone who actually played the game will not praise it like this, it's just underage kids trying to kiss ass for brownie points from the older generation who did just because it's the favorite game of their preferred YouTube Let's Player.

Times were different ese. Also that's just like your opinion man

When it first came out, it was ACTUALLY the best game in the world, and was a considerable step up from most of the stuff we'd seen before. Not just in technology, but in quality. The music, story, world, and gameplay were all of higher quality than we were used to seeing. It evoked a feeling of adventure in it's fans they'd never experienced before, and while games have been able to evoke the same feeling since, it's hard to recapture that first time.
>>381138306
When it first came out, it was a pretty big deal. Maybe a little overrated but every publication praised it to no end. It kind of "stuck" in peoples minds as "the greatest game ever", kind of like how most film buffs will tell you the "greatest film ever" is Citizen Kane, whether or not it's their favorite. Time went on and no games in the immediate following years made as much of a splash in the gaming publications, memories warped in nostalgia and by the time something better did come along, Ocarina had not only its good critical reception but now an entire generation who defaults to "Ocarina of Time" whenever the question of greatest game of all time is brought up. This further perpetuates the idea and more people unwittingly fall onto the bandwagon.

A better RPG came out the same year
>never played it or any other Zelda game as a kid besides the original
>Bought OoT for 3DS to see what I'd missed out on
>play for like an hour or two
>get bored and go back to monster hunter
Maybe I just don't get it.
>>381138912
I don't. OoT is STILL an amazing game. However it hasn't magically gotten better over time, while games as a medium have had time to improve since.

Ha! Keep telling yourself that.
Hey, I'm here. Came out 7 years ago.

I agree that Musashi is a better RPG, but that's kind of easy because zelda is not even an RPG.

Give a quick rundown/linkI agree though, Thief 2 is a better game,

And you keep telling yourself it's literally perfect to the point that you can't possibly tolerate any criticism someone has for it. This is not an OoT echo-chamber.

Pretty much. The game has a very specific feel to it, I think the superb music and sound design has a lot to do with that, and the adult dungeons in particular have excellent atmosphere.
Compare them to, say, the Skyrim dungeons. OOT's are actually better.

That's a cruel way to talk about yourself, Anon.

Nobody wants to invest money and time on something.
Instead they make whatever shit and roll the dice to see if it returns them money which usually does.
Emulated it a while ago, it was dull and stupid. Guess it was silly to expect standards from consoleplebs, much less from nintendumbos. Majora's Mask was pretty almospheric though.
>>381138576
he's right majoras mask was not as good as OOT
mario 64s really better
My real problem with Ocarina of Time is that it should have been outdone by now but it hasn't. We shouldn't still be saying it's the best Zelda game but Nintendo are a bunch of hacks and can't do any better.
Every 3D Zelda afterwards has some sort of fatal flaw or list of fatal flaws that OoT just didn't have. OoT is just so fucking pure and flawless that it's shocking it was their first big effort at a 3D adventure game.
Even Zelda clones usually end up being mediocre or bad, the only game I can think of that comes even remotely close to OoT is Arkham City.

>3DS
the only Ocarina is the uncensored N64 release, playing anything else is robbing yourself of the experience.
