Whatever happened to cheats in single player games? They used to be brilliant, adding flavour to a second run-through, but nowdays it feels like it's only GTA that has them.
>>381121990
devs can sell cheats as DLC these days
>>381121990
Some games have them.
Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun had them.
Generally ignored because the null period in development when they were made was filled out by other activities in the business.

Too video gamey.
>>381121990
Cheats and Unlockables became DLC, thank the jew for it.

Meant to be a quick way to debug in game. Once the tech started getting better devs were able to implement a proper debugger.
Achievements happened

>devs were able to implement a proper debugger
>games are buggier than ever

Realism in video games is like super heroes in movies. The fad is getting long in the tooth.

>games used to be 10s of MBs
>now they're 10s of GBs
No shit they're buggier, there's 1000x more code even if you remove textures and sounds.
No fun allowed

They were implemented as game """"features""""
