Alternative movement mode is more responsive.
Read the first 2 books.
Play w1 & 2.
Get Bone Ranger's Immersive Nudity mod for better immersion.
Get other mods that lessen annoyances like weight limit mod and potion mod.

turn off the minimap. It's just a generic circle with a dotted line telling you where to go. It's for idiots that don't know how to play computer games. The game gives you enough visual hints and pieces of dialogue to point you in the right direction. It's a far more immersive experience.

Dont listen to them, the question marks are worth exploring. They are not bland, the're immersive. They sometimes start another quest, almost always there is a letter/a note revealing the story behind the place.

upgraded alternate quen is OP as fuck, like god mode

Just play it and have fun. I don't think there is really a wrong way to experience the game. If there is an aspect that bothers you then look up a mod to fix it because it probably exists.

Disable as much shit on your hud as possible, don't start a game with them turned on, it will make you play a game within a minimap, and if you do, it will get painfully hard to switch back to non dumbed gameplay.

Runes and glyphs do absolutely nothing. Some of them are glitched and/or do not scale properly. Save your money until you have access to the runewright (you won't meet him for a long time, though).

Invest in the ursine school of armor but put points into the fast attack tree. It's contradicting, I know.
