They want to reach the western audience, but don't want to scare off any new players. So calling it 5 and releasing it in the west would be a horrible idea as it's immediately associated with these "difficult" games.

I just did some maths...
Wii had 101 million console's sold, 12m in Japan, and my tri only sold 2.2m. Only 1m in Japan. This was the most westernized mh at the time...
Ps4 wise, japan has only got 4.2m console's now. 60m world wide.
The ps4, xbox, and pc is much bigger here in the US, however... Japan makes up 66% of monster hunter sales.
So let's say if mh world is the new tri... Japan's sales would look like this:

650,000 sales

Basically it's going to sell like mh3u on the Wii u, with .69m

there's that word, I can self-regulate to a good degree, I dare say, like I found the older GoW games to be subpar compared to something like DMC and Bayonetta, but they were still fine and I could easily see why it appealed so much to my normalfag friends, and BotW (save for the horrible textures) and Odyssey (save for the weird-ass humans) look just as good as the past games which I've played for decades, BotW having made open world design unlike anything I've played before (though I've been sitting on my ass without playing Witcher 3 for over a yeard), and Odyssey apparently is returning to the roots of Mario 64 and Sunshine

I myself find it easy to see why people are excited over Odyssey and got excited over BotW, and I saw some posts shitting on the Rabbids game above, and the game looks somewhat simmilar to X-Com, and if there were no Rabbids then I'd be excited for it myself, I fucking HATE those little shits, they look just like Minions (which I also hate), but it's easy to see why people are getting excited over it, they probably aren't as put off by those shits as I am, and the gameplay that was shown looked very cool

the matter of fact is that Sony's top games in the last decade actually came from From Software, Rockstar, not their inside studios, which make products tailored to appeal to the masses, which love le cinematic experience, and Nintendo did fuck things up with a handful of games (Paper Mario 3DS and WiiU, Other M, Federation Force, Skyward Sword), but they still make some of the best games in the industry, and now that they're on the Switch and its gimmicks are secondary (unlike on the WiiU and Wii), AND on top of that we're getting good mainline games, people are excited for Nintendo again

I don't even know why you're here on /v/, which is probably one of the most neutral grounds on the internet to talk about videogames, you should go to Neogaf, they really love Sony there and you'd fit right in

I dislike pretty much all console games equally for varying reasons. This isn't console warring. for example, I hate both Bloodborne and BOTW for being 30 FPS, having DLC, and overall being casualized for the wider COD audience.
