I haven't downloaded ACT yet since it's a ~beta~ and there are countless people that have issues with it, but from the speed at which shit gets killed. I think you might be right that it chokes in long fights though. I did get hit by a full raid Void Death IV yesterday though, my party of 3 rdm couldn't salvage an entire dead alliance and another crippled one.

Though as a RDM I still take a giant shit on packs with scatter and moulinet

It's probably the worst out of the dps jobs at the moment. Not even memeing. Their aoe potential is horrid, Ricochet doesn't make up for -2 ammo and Spread Shot's pithy 80 potency and the loss of old Gauss' 30% buff. Their ST is predicated on the usage of wildfire with overheat but Overheat by itself is a dubious gain over simply maintaining 50+ heat with gauss that you literally save everything to burn within that 10s just to do like ~10% over what you would normally do with heat/gauss.

Turret overload is shit in dungeons and only useful in fringe timings in raids. Dungeons because you get fucking locked out for 30 fucking seconds and the best time to explode a turret is when mobs are at <20%. Try explaining to the tank that you need 15 seconds before you can summon your shitty 60 potency turrent with 80 potency spread shot while BRD's quick nock + MP/WM song shits on everything you do.

I didn't click on him all day and night after my initial 6 hour marathon (including a few 90ks and login queues in that), but I stayed logged in and spent 15-30 mins trying again every couple hours. I sold a lot of overpriced samurai swords so that's some consolation but it was pretty awful. Especially because most of my static made it through on Friday night when they removed the limitations briefly (and the servers crashed shortly after-- I was out to dinner when this happened because I figured there was no point sticking around), so I was just sitting there while they're all raving about the new shit and queuing for stuff. They'll help me catch up of course, but it's not the same. Plus they gutted scholar as far as leveling and 4 man (in that it isn't fun, not just that it's bad) so I switched to leveling white mage, but it's pretty much just the same as it was since you can ignore the lily system and it has no significant impact on your play. So this barely feels like an expansion for me, more like an even-numbered patch with some extra dungeons and an extra ex primal fight.

Embrace was nerfed by 50 potency, and fey illumination by 10%, say gooddbye to your best AOE heal that was already incredibly limited.

Literally all of selenes toolkit is just as worthless as it was in HW (why is silent dusk still a thing and why do i have to see into the future to use it?)

Exco is a completely dumb skill in usage. It heals to little for it to make a difference how its intended to be used and most of the time its just a 50 potency higher lustrate.

AST buffs have completely eclipsed your shields, they are worthless now compared to them, even critlo deployment is worthless in comparison and thats fucking unreliable rng.

Chains stratagem was completely gutted before it even got released 120s cd compared to the 90s it was, on top of the 5% nerf.

Bane is a legit huge dps loss, schs aoe dps is now actually a dps loss, your dps is garbage now plainly put and WHM is a more attractive option for it.

SCH is gutted in the sense that a lot of their good stuff recieved nerfs for no good reason while getting no buffs in return. Meanwhile ast got overbuffed like FUCK especially the stance that competes with SCH and WHM was at least attempted to keep up with it.

Its this bad: if sch is single target healing with mp only, they get outhealed by a fucking rdm. Its bad

Yes, once DoTs are fixed for ACT we'll know for sure but 4.0 BRD is at the very least close enough to melee/casters that there's no need to do something like 3x melee/1 caster or 2 caster/2 melee, something I was afraid of. Only issue is that the majority of its buffs do not affect the BRD, those being crit buff/BV/Troubadour. That'll probably be a QoL fix. BRD is currently around 2600-2800 without DoTs registering correctly so they'll probably be around 3200-3300? or so. Which is pretty much where other classes are bar SAM.

BRD lives and breathes by its procs. Alone with just Heavy Shot and DoTs it is pretty weak but once you get high enough crit and skspd, you start seeing the power. The 58 trait for Empyreal Arrow is a huge help in that regard. As tiers move on, BRD is going to scale incredibly well with skspd and crit.

RDM is hilariously overpowered in low level dungeons.

We get access to our 300 potency spells at like level 5 while most classes don't finish off their first main combo until the mid 20's or 30's.

You usually want to start off a fight with Minuet. Army Paeon doesn't increase damage so it's just a haste. Even if you get 4 stacks early say at 20 seconds remaining, you'd still only get like 1-2 extra gcds 1-2 extra autos. Which isn't bad, it's like 450 potency, but you have to be very lucky to get stacks that early and once you get them, every proc afterwards does nothing so 450 potency is all you get from Paeon.

Typically, you just want to use Raging near the start with WM, pot after 1-2 gcds and the IJ near the end of pot/Raging's timers. There are some variations but its mostly preference. With most of BRD's DoTs gone, the opener variance is negligible.
