Another reason it threw me off is the jump from 1v1 to 3v3. Why not at least offer options like Gundam Versus with 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 being available.

Am I the only one assuming all the characters from the previous games are basically confirmed for this game? We already have Kain who is an extra character from IV. Only one who I feel might now get in is Yuna due to her fighting with summons.

The issue is that XIV's characters are all garbage, they're not allowed to do anything because the autistic WoL does all the fighting for them. For all the cool new outfits they get in the expansions, all they do in the story is point you at whatever god needs a boot up the ass next. I'd like Hildibrand as a joke character, though. More opportunities for banter with Gilgamesh is a win in my book.

Garnet was a good character until the ending of the game, where they go out of their way to make her behave like an eight year old girl who just got to see her father after ages. Honestly ruined the character completely for me.

I just want more defined class roles. I was hoping with the addition of Y'shtola and 3v3 in general that they would start adding tanks and healers, but it seems like it is still just the generic Gundam vs Gundam style. We should have actual supports who focus on healing and providing shields. We should have tank based characters that have taunts and disruption moves, etc...

It would make it a lot easier to add more characters too.

I will never not be mad about how Freya and Vivi just get tossed to the side despite being the most interesting characters. At least Steiner has awesome scenes the whole game.

Like the setting of XV is the absolute worst to me. I hate it so much. At least 13 had that high fantasy look to it that made it very bright and colorful. X did it right too by just having an interesting setting in general.

Yeah Vivi did get enough exposure now that I think about it. Freya was criminally underused though. She quickly became my favorite FF character ever because of how interesting she was in disc one. She was a tragic figure that just got shafted so hard so that they could force the terrible twists with Zidane later on.

To make matters worse, despite him being the least interesting Dragoon they still force the image of Dragoon to always be Kain. I really liked how stylish Freya's design was and she had a lot more cool moves than just Jump.

I think Nero definitely deserves to be in. Same with Yugiri. The big problem with the first Dissidia was that it was just a popularity contest first and foremost. Because of that the cast is extremely sterile and boring. From a fighting game design perspective, there is s much potential to a lot of characters in FF, but they will never be realized. Instead we just get another spikey haired guy with a generic one handed sword.

I: Sarah, with either a support oriented playstyle or abilities based on the bard job
II: Maria and/or Leon, though Minwu is definitely the one that would be chosen first
III: Xande, fuck CoD, that guy is the real vilain of the game
IV: Rydia, probably one of the most iconic characters from IV
V: Faris and/or Galuf, I do like the pirate a bit more than the old man, most badass looking character of all FFs
VI: Locke and/or Celes, can't choose between those two
VII: Fully playable Aerith maybe? I'm not too interested in VII characters right now, Tifa is everything I ever needed
VIII: Rinoa, not the most exciting character ever but I can't think of FFVIII without her
IX: Garnet and/or Vivi, Garnet because muh waifu, Vivi because he's the best character from FF in general
X: Seymour and/or Auron, not too much of a Seymour fan, but X needs an actual antagonist
XI: Eald'narche and/or Lilisette, the former was already considered for 012, the latter seems cool (could be the only one than can represents the Dancer job) and hot
XII: Balthier and/or Vayne, it's time for XII to actually get some decent characters in dissidia

Who is in from ff8?

One of the greatest things about Dissidia was the presence of some old, obscure characters that nobody would care for. The Emperor in particular was a delight to see: Generic, flat vilain in his own game, but one of the most important, charismatic and nasty characters in the Dissidia storyline.

I really, really want more old characters given a second chance like that. But do you think it's likely to happen again? Opera Omnia for exemple has a fuckton of characters in it but zero from FFI to III...
