I beat Gothic 3 a few months back

Playing a mage build was actually very satisfying as I felt it worked as a mage build should, you start off very weak with only being able to cast a spell or two without sleeping. Eventually after you get a few of the powerful spells ( Like the sleep spell as well as the stealth perk to steal from sleeping NPC's, rain of fire. ) and the 'Regenerate Mana' perk I suddenly felt like Gandalf and combat had a entirely different dynamic to it.

Also, its great how there are no essential NPC's. The ability to conquest towns for a faction also reminded me a lot of Mount and Blade, which was nice.

I still get PTSD from the undead city

Gothic 1 and 2 are literally the best example that games can be art, and not art because of reddit "too deep" for you bullshit, but because of the actual design, music, and style which is masterpiece in Gothic
