I stopped liking GTA a long time ago. They basically did the opposite of what Saint's Row did. In the beginning they both had this balance of serious and silly. GTA got too serious and Saint's Row got too silly.

R* have said it's to try and combat MP hackers, what you've said proves the point that this does nothing to MP hackers and Take-Two at the very least don't care enough to go back on their cease and desist.

They don't care about finding out where the real hacks come from, they don't care enough to find out why people hack (mainly because they already know it's due to bullshit prices and shitty rewards from jobs), and they certainly didn't care enough to find out that OpenIV actually turned off multiplayer and online themselves.
Take-Two and R* took the easiest option to try and get rid of hackers, and not only has it not succeeded, it's pissed everyone off. What I'm suggesting is that crying into the reviews and going "WAAHHH THEY TOOK DOWN OPENIV" is going to do nothing to a company with millions, and a game that has ALREADY made most of its cash anyway. They're interested in micro-transactions and that's the only reason why they make DLC, and why they still care about hackers in game.

Firaxis hasn't released a game where Take Two banks solely on an online mode with vehicles that can only be gained through either intense grinding or buying their special funbux to get them quick. Take Two declared singleplayer mods illegal because people made some that allowed you to spawn those vehicles in singleplayer causing them to miss out on potential shark card sales.
