Give me your most sad games /v/. I want to bawl like a baby
Battleborn
I know it's a meme but unironically, mother 3
I've heard To The Moon is pretty sad. If you get overly attached to companions and have a soft spot for animals, The Last Guardian will fuck you up. Rule of Rose is depressing, but not going to make you outright bawl like a big baby bitch, probably.

Does VN count ?
play Nier Automata, remember to start over again and again cause different endings, it's a great melancholic ride.

I know people here don't like it but life is strange was real good imo and had several tear jerk moments. Ori was also pretty good, not really strong enough emphasis on the story/environment to pull out tears but you'll still be somber playing it. Bastion was p good. Mgs3 (the only good mgs pre V).

People always say the original Nier is really sad but I just don't think it delivers a good enough execution to be emotional. Events are too rushed and there's no development or build up to care about any of the characters except superficially.

Trails in the Sky is generally upbeat but when it hits a somber tone it can hit pretty hard, especially in the 3rd game.

Metal gear solid is garbage because it parades as a military story but is actually mega anime shit. Also it pretends to be a stealth game but isn't at all. Mgs3 was ACTUALY stealth and also the least anime. V is no anime practically and the most mechanically involved/stealth of them. Go play chaos theory, thief, dishonored, mgsv and then play mgs1 2 and 4. Shit is garbage compared to the masters of stealth

Nah, only "Y" was really emotional because i played the first one, but the rest felt like it needed more content and continuation, i hate how they decided to split the lore in concerts/novels etc.
Yakuza 3 made me cry like a bitch.

It still works, but i liked more those complete sidequests than the fragmented main story and the complete absence of character backgrounds for most of the cast.
Spec Ops The Line

the thing is that revealing too much of the backstory of characters like 2B would've ruined the ending of the game, but later after understanding how she felt about her role, it all makes a lot of sense

you can literally plow through all the metal gear games with no stealth and 3 and 5 are the worst offenders for this

Fallout 3 with the good ending and no broken steel
>mom dies giving birth to you
>dad leaves everything behind to save you
>raises you until you are an adult then leaves possibly the safest place in the wasteland to go back to project purity
>you leave everyone you have ever known behind to follow him and get answers
>finally learn the truth
>he dies protecting you and keeping what he believed in out of the hands of those who would abuse it
>sacrifice yourself for the greater good so that mankind can have hope in an otherwise bleak and hopeless world
>that last shot of the picture Jonas took of you and your father when you were 10
>crib music plays
>end credits
That shit always got me
>people underironically recommending Mother 3
There's nothing at all sad about that game. It has the emotional depth of a Lifetime movie. Any adult will recognize instantly how poorly the game attempts to manipulate the player into feeling sad with sloppy writing. It's drivel.

- first season of Walking Dead, provided that you haven't played to death telltale titles.
- Scratches (but it takes off nearly at the end + not available at stores anymore; pirate ahoy)
- Oxenfree (only when you're heavily drunk)
- Silent Hill 4
Give Rakuen a go if you have about 5-6 hours to spare

The only sad thing about that game was how shit it was.
