It was a complete let down, but I guess it's the only way you could consolidate the weirdness of characters who had never interacted before in their life suddenly cooperating to accomplish the same goal near the end.
Feels like they just was running out on funds/creative juice and needed to write themselves out of a corner so they decided to go with "we're in a videogame all along" route, and it was shit.
Doesn't help that the dialogue options were no different between characters unless you were playing the clown.
