>heard Spec Ops devs were working on Dead Island 2
>hyped as fuck for quality writing and great environmental design
>"creative differences" between Yager and ((((Deep Silver))))
>Yager dropped from project
This game is a guaranteed failure.
The gameplay Yager showed at Gamescom 2014 FUCKING SUCKED.

The story in specops was great but the graphics, gameplay and music were mediocre at best, and for DE2 Yager didn't even seem to actually bother with a story while still making everything else mediocre. If Sumo Digital has what it takes to save this sequel from mediocrity to compete head to head with Dying Light 2, good on them. If not, who cares, right?

I'll give you the gameplay, but the graphics were good and the music and art direction on SpecOps were pretty fucking amazing. Seriously, the game looked and sounded amazing.
None of this means much for Dead Island 2. I honestly don't know why we even NEED Dead Island 2 since the previous games were awful, and the whole concept was salvaged with Dying Light (which I always viewed as a proper Dead Island sequel), and whatever Yager was doing did not look good anyway.
I just hope that Yager gets another shot at something that actually fits their style. Not a literally brain-dead whacky first person Dead Rising wannabe. Just seemed like such a poor fit for those guys.
Wanted to like dead island 1 but the combat was horrific.
Dying light was awesome, though.

I completely forgot about this
I think they missed the boat on the zombie trend though, it's been done to death
