Does /v/ like first-person dungeon crawlers?
>>381063332
Hey Cleve, fuck you! I dare you to set you mighty lawyers on me!
Also neanderthals sucks
Yeah they're good. World of Xeen is best.
>>381063332
You mean blobbers? Yeah, what about them?
Wait, V1.0? That can't be right. Is Grimoire actually getting released soon?
>>381064812
July 7th
I miss dungeon crawling games.
Oldschool like this, D&D style, MMOs, ect, dungeon crawling seems to have been pushed aside in favor of static, cinematic storytelling.
Hell even the latest zelda game kind of gave up dungeons in favor of pure open world meme.
>>381064130
>Start up MM6 for the first time a few months ago
>90 gorillion magi tossing fireballs at me
What the fuck
>>381065065
The enemies in the overworld are way tougher than the enemies in the dungeons at the start of the game, don't try fighting them until you're stronger
also equip a bow on every character
and never use a Knight, they are just a shitty version of a Paladin
>>381064903
Even taking into account a couple more delays, it might actually be released by the end of the year! I should probably start adjusting my schedule around the 600 hours now.
>>381063332
Yeah but the art is almost always shit and I can't stand it. It's even worse with Japanese ones where all the classes are shitty moeblobs.
imagine how many who were looking forward to Grimoire have died waiting. It's got to number in the thousands.
>>381064130
I remember when I was a kid and my parents bought me those pc games magazines with the game discs on them I had one of those and it fucking scared me to no end. I used to play all those colorful and childish game and then suddenly it was first person with dead bodies everywhere.
>>381063332
How do I into dungeon crawlers? Only ones I've played are the Shin Megami Tensei games and I liked those.
>>381066137
start with Grimrock 2, its the most modern one and fairly easy
>>381066137
Give Eye of the Beholder a try. It's a classic, fairly accessible, and early enough that you're starting with the roots of the genre. Anvil of Dawn is another good choice. It's not as good as EotB, but is very easy to get into.
>>381066137
Get into Might & Magic. There's even a /vr/ general that you could discuss them and ask questions in.
>>381063332
Was this thing released or what?
>>381064130
>WE WUZ enemies
>can't pick a black protagonist
What did they mean by this?
still playing Dungeon Hack yes.
>>381067421
>clerics have the worst town
>necromancers have the best town
What did they mean by this?
>>381067627
Half-naked brown elves was M&M8's best feature.
>>381063332
What is the best wizardry to start with if I was someone who had only played SMT games as FP DRPGs?
Honestly shit is faster to sit through animation wise.
>>381066207
Grimrock 1 > Grimrock 2
>>381067874
Tale of the Forsaken Land.
>>381067907
Objectively wrong.
But playing G1 first is a good idea because G2 basically improves everything G1 had.
Figured I'd give Might & Magic Legacy a try, since I apparently bought it at some point. It's not very good.
Went back to Wizardry 8.
>>381068025
G2 has worse puzzles, worse balance (designed so you can go to a bunch of different places at once so everywhere is hard at the start and easy later on), worse level / dungeon design, a worse story, and a far worse final boss (true final boss included).
So where exactly is it better?
>>381067874
Wizardry 8 or Wizardry 1, depending on what you're interested in. Get the DOS version of 1-4, console version was dumbed down.
>>381067943
Fuck no.
>>381068119
>giantcubeis a good final boss
>>381068031
>Might & Magic Legacy
3-6 are the good ones.
>>381068119
You are delusional, but I forgive you.
>>381067874
Wizardry is the wrong series to start with. Wizardry 6 if you're really set on it though.
>>381068201
Yeah, it was. It was a mix of puzzle and combat which also forced you to be mindful of the environment to beat it. 2's final bosses are nothing but shitty combat, one in a huge open square with zero thought required, the other one in a dungeon where all you have to do is just facetank it to win.
>>381068348
It forced you to shoot the cube with the laser gun and left click to grab a part from it.
>>381063332
If they had an auto-crawl mechanic, basically the game played itself while I watched and could sometimes take control to make decisions on whether to heal or what path/loot to take, then it would be ok. Dungeon crawlers without auto-explore are a bore
>>381068604
I'm triggered
>>381063332
>This game has been in development for over 20 years
So how I am gonna do my game when a professional can't do it
>>381063332
I like roguelike dungeon cralwers.
>>381069220
He is making a fucking huge game, has an autistic devotion to making it perfect, and works in his free time. You'll be fine as long as you know your limitations.
>>381063332
Technically yes, but I also absolutely despise party-based games. Eight goddamn people, it's a fucking army. Way to kill any atmosphere.
>>381069890
Most party-based dungeon crawlers give you the option to use less party members in exchange for increased EXP gain
>>381064130
I only like Might & Magic series because other series are too complicated for me
Only if it's SMT. Western cuck shit is unappealing.
>>381071363
*blocks your sawmill*
>>381071443
yeah because a fucking animu is appeling
>>381067421
black people don't play rpg games anyway
>>381067874
>>381068154
I'd second Wiz 8 since it is the most modern one and probably the easiest. It also has the added benefit of being the "worst" so you won't experience the decline.
If you are trying Wiz 1(-4) I'd argue that the snes versions are better for a complete noob. Sure they are a bit easier, but mostly in terms of accessibility and not really in any way "dumbed down". Also wireframes might be a bit much for the young folk.
>>381063332
Stranger of Sword City is alright
>>381063332
Only if I can add titty portraits into them.
>>381074326
but it's a weebshit
>>381074413
You can pick between 2 artstyles, one is typical weebshit, the other actually has a gritty style to it, which is what I like. Only one character is off cause she wears a school uniform
>>381074413
so is 4chan but you come here every day
>inb4 boring platitudes about how this weebshit site isn't a weebshit site
>>381063332
>Spathi
>In your party.
How high is it's coward stat?
>>381066137
Wizardry motherfucka!

just pump its METTLE to 99 and you're gucci
>>381075114
>Ass laying
wew
>paper doll has human head
ONE JOB CLEVE
Anyone played StarCrawlers? Is it any good?
>>381075114
>so many stats
for what fucking reason?
>>381075531
that's the result of over 23 years of feature bloat
>>381075453
I've asked my friend about it ages ago and he said
"It's decent, the side missions which you can do are kinda samey, but the Story Missions are actual designed maps and are really good, if a bit long
Classes all play diffrently and the combat system is similar to FF10, with some classes being able to play around with turn order"
but i havent played it myself so i cant give you my own opinion on it
>>381075771
Ah hell, it's only 20 bucks. I'll give it a try.
>>381063332
Let's get this shit started:
>playing anachronistic blobber trash in the year of our Lord 2017
>>381066137
Whizzardry 6 SNES.

>>381076692
Aha!
I haven't played one since Dungeon Master on the SNES. I remember liking it but shit was hard.
>>381077923
if you think that was hard, never play Wizardry 4
average person after playing Wiz4:
http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2010/10/wizardry-iv-everything-about-this-game.html
>>381078060
I think a lot of the challenge probably came from how young I was when I played it. But looking at that it does sound frustrating. I think I have Legend of Grimlock in my Steam library, maybe I should give that a shot.
