I'm a brainlet, someone tell me if my math is right for figuring out how much of a potency loss Onslaught is compared to Fell Cleave

Cleave is 500 potency and costs a GCD so I compared it to the average potency of a GCD spent on a Butcher's Block combo, which is (150+200+280)/3 = 210. So a Fell Cleave is a potency gain of 290. 290/5 is 58, which should be the potential potency gain of each 10 Beast Gauge if you spend it on Fell Cleave. So that should mean that Onslaught is a 16 potency loss compared to Fell Cleave, right? Since Onslaught is 100 potency and costs 20 Beast Gauge (50 average potency gain per 10 gauge spent).

That's not too bad for a 20 yard gap closer. If my math is right it's probably a potential DPS gain if you get even one extra melee auto-attack out of it.

Just did Sirensong. It was a way better starting dungeon than Dusk Vigil. Didn't drag on too long and had cool designs. Are the other dungeons as good?

So I just got back into playing this game. I have heavensward, but I've never played. I have a lvl 50 brd ilvl 110 and a ninja ilvl 60. I don't think i've beat the game far enough to unlock heavensward. I want to play ninja because bard is boring, but my bard has a higher ilvl so i'm not sure what to do. Frontline roulette, go in as a freelancer. XP is fast and its guaranteed. Literally nothing else comes close to the gains.

I was told tanking gets enjoyable once you have a tank stance but so far this is as boring as playing dps.

Since PLD is apparently the most fun and involved tank in SB I'm not sure what to think. I had a look over their later level abilities and it just seems like a lot of defensive cooldowns and not much in actual ability variety.

The more I'm going through the MSQ the more that the Garleans are turning out to be right and that Eoreza is full of degenerates.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be using Dark Arts on Dark Passenger or not, it's a huge chunk of mana. Just unlocked Quietus and it feels underwhelming for how long it takes to ramp up the resources for it. New Delirium is kinda nice but mathematically doesn't end up being much of a damage buff apparently.

Leveling AST on the side because I've wanted to try healing and they're apparently pretty good at the moment. Wanted to try SCH but leveling Arcanist is boring me to tears.

+ AOE is finally different, you're not waiting to get enough ticks for more Fire 2s. Thunder 2/4 is a great addition in general.
+ Triplecast is neat. More mobility is appreciated.
+ Early dungeon bosses give you interesting reasons to use Between the Lines.
- You seemingly can't do 6 f4s in a rotation without waiting on a tick after B3 to do literally anything. This sucks on a class that's supposed to constantly cast. And we can't even meld piety to mitigate this. So either you get rid of an F4, or you get a clunky ass rotation
- Refreshes no longer work on a BLM in Astral Fire, including Lucid Dreaming, making one of the role skills completely pointless

I also like those content, but the problem is people's utter unwillingness to run them because they're scared shitless of ... things. This is what happens when the gap between regular and high end content is astronomically huge and unsync makes it even bigger.
I think I might ultimately prefer the 24man raids because they aren't as boring as dungeons or rigid as ex/savage but can still produce a trainwreck every once in while.

I'm a bit mixed on BLM right now. I love the new aoe thunder, but the duration is so short procs barely happen. Probably fair, though. Really need to unfuck my rotation because if I start with thunder II/III, then go straight to fire III - fire II x3, I don't have enough mp for flare. This is probably where blizz III/IV comes in, but it's still a bit fucked in 50 dungeons. I think I'm also really feeling the aoe nerfs, going fire II - flare on three enemies isn't enough anymore. need to be four or more enemies now. I've also on occasion dropped enochian because I lost umbral ice/astral fire sometimes. Without the little buff timer icons it's a bit more difficult to keep track, haven't gotten used to the new job UI yet, or the new rules surrounding enochian.

My rhythm is all thrown off and I couldn't get into enough duties to practice it yet. Hope I can get back into the groove like I did pre-4.0. Looking forward to doing it right, though.

F2 should only be used as a filler so transpose can come off CD at this point I'm pretty sure. It's 80*1.8 potency now...

I don't think i can do it anymore. PotD 5 hours a day for 3 days and i'm only level 56. I just can't do it, i don't want to play this game anymore. My hype is gone, i hate video games at this point. PotD has to be the single most tedious grind in any MMO or game ever created. It's so bad. And the worst part is nothing is as effective as PotD for leveling, dungeons take 45-60mins to get in and pvp gives half the exp for one run compared to PotD. I hate it so god damn much.

I know people are still learning their rotations but fucking christ if you're a fuckup who can't play a new class and pay attention to boss mechanics at the same time at least learn how to do your rotation properly so you're not a complete dead weight.

WHM isn't as bad as I'd anticipated, but the lily mechanic is 100% useless and having to choose a limited set of skills that we had before is pretty frustrating when we're basically obligated to have Esuna, Protect and Swiftcast.

Like, they couldn't make it something like a party regen whose potency is stronger with more lillies, or make Divine Benison shield more with more lillies? or even just make Assize stronger with more lillies

I had the opposite problem. I breezed through until the 60 quest where I just couldn't do enough damage, and I had a tense fight where I hovered on about 4k HP the whole time, using third eye and the heal from it, potions, second wind and berserking or whatever it is while dodging AoEs and getting what little damage I could in.

Probably should've picked up a new weapon for that one.
