basically this but i hated 5s campaign. the only one i never bothered to finish. the squad combat is garbage for solo campaign. they hand out lower ammo so you depend on shitty ai to "assist" in doing all the work. I liked 3 and 4s legendary mode, i felt like a king beating them. barely a few levels into 5 i couldn't stand any of it. but yeah the multiplayer was pretty sick even though armor customization was shit and the slow free "dlc" thing sucked.

This. Reach split the community, added shit perks, and got rid of the BR. 3 shots instead of 4 + sprint turned it into another adhd shooter. It lost its popularity. Halo was dropped from mlg and had to do those fucking awful agl tourneys. It also had a shit ranking system. The series never recovered from it. It isn't the worst halo in my eyes, but it is the halo that killed the series.

Hard to say. Truth to be told both games are very similar and have similar faults. I didn't play much multiplayer in these so my opinion could be wrong with that part.

The new enemy is shit. Same problem like in Gears 4, robots are fucking shit in these games. Not fun fighting them, not fun killing them. Teleportation makes the otherwise still good ai and fight shit. Xbox 360 halos were always bashed because they didn't had very good graphics (never ever taking into consideration what the engine had to do and fags always compared them to single player corridor shooters) so 4 traded what made the games unique for power. H4 is gorgeous and actually maybe the best looking game of the generation, but the price was the size of the battles. Feels like corridor shooter now. The multiplayer was revamped for the cod audience as well. While the balance was awful for a long time it wasn't really bad, just not really halo. The hyped up spartan ops co-op game mode was terrible.

I think the main reason H5 fucked up as well is the graphics again. They promised 60fps and delivered as well but sacrificed even more of the classics. The robots stayed, now with a shit boss type enemy. Now the game is completly geared towards precision rifles, everything else seems useless. The once really diverse weapon selection is toned down to the basics and these have several version as well doing the same job. The campagin is more like a corridor shooter, the levels are extremely short and killing split screen, while it was a logical decision ruins an once fun split screen experience completly. While I don't like the even more codification of the mp and microtransactions, the multiplayer is a blast, they really polished that one, learnt from the mistakes of 4. Every update is free and they really take care of the game so it is a big +.

If you like the single / co-op more then H4 is better
If you like multiplayer and doesn't care about single H5 is better

I still get matchmaking glitches like just trying to find a match is difficult. It is a million times better now, but still hard. Level 4s get matched against 50s, but that is probably a population problem. Halo 3 and halo 2 hardcore modes need to be separated. For the love of god fix the blood shot problems in halo 3. It is also a problem in halo 2, but not as bad as far as I can see. It still somehow has a quitting problem. It also has a problem with people avoiding others. You can just see your opponents level or kd and close the app to avoid them with no penalty. There is more, but that is the first I can think of.

By FAR Halo4 is the best and most influential of the two.

By the end of 7th gen, me as a 360-only owner was getting nothing but multiplats, it seemed like MS didn't care half-way through the generation, and with the news of Bungie's departure I thought Halo would go to the shitter in the hands of 343i (because they also fucked up everything they touched beforehand, including books, the anime, Halo:CE's remake and Reach's MP patch).

The release of Halo4 made me realise a VERY important thing: Just as I predicted it was a shit Halo game and the franchise is dead to me with 343i behind it. It was the LAST Xbox exclusive I held dear (At the time Fable was a joke after 3 and the Kinect game, and Gears Of War was going also downhill with 3 and Judgement)

Halo4 put my mind into ease, I was no longer bound to Xbox because there's nothing there I cared about anymore. Halo4 was one of the main reasons why I bought a PS4 this generation instead and it was one of the best decisions I've made. It introduced me to many new franchises, superior japanese titles, and the fact that it gets so many Vita and PS3 games is actually a positive point for me, not a negative like mnay /v/goers like to joke about - since I never owner either of those consoles.

So I must thank Halo4, even though it was a shitty unmemorable game.
