Less interesting story, gameplay is better.

Last Light is amazing if you enjoy the first one, it includes some mini stories where you play as the other characters which gives a nice new perspective.

Literally NOTHING is better in last light, not even the graphics. They completely dropped the ball on character design (and even more so in voice acting), the plot is literally one of the most confuse video game plots I've seen. Gunplay is now a cowadoody clone and the AI is brain dead (they literally don't have peripheral vision), also the stealth was nerfed, and minor stuff that simply breaks all balance, like 1 hit kill knives

It was basically, Artyrom gets knocked out and time passes, over and over.

2033 has better lighting and more effects like volumetric fog, also the aforementioned character design was way better.
LL optimization is also terrible, with most outside levels running at <10 FPS even on lowest setting at some parts, regardless of your PC

Its a rambling incoherent mess, with some full blown paranormal (but not scary, more in the vein of an actual fairy tale) sections where you have no fucking idea what just happened. Character development is terrible and all their actions seem forced/unrealistic

This is where shit goes completely down the drain.
First of all: Gunplay, they reworked the recoil system and it's now literally just a screen shake effect instead of the actual gun moving around, so it's barely noticeable. You always find guns with attachments so merchants are pointless, there is way too much ammo in in the higher difficulties and the weapon damage is too freaking high. Stealth is piss easy because you're either a ninja or a lit up christmas three with a subwoffer blasting some remixes, and the game conveniently lets you know which of the two states are you on. The enemy has no peripheral vision, they can only see you from the front, and they don't react to the sound of their teammates being knocked out. You can also destroy lights and they barely react to this, even if the whole station went dark
