I really do love Breath of the Wild - it's one of my favorite games in years, and it's certainly up there in the pantheon of Zelda games.
Unfortunately, there comes a time after something like 100 hours when the joy of exploration rapidly fades. The novelty of the mechanics starts to wear and the realization that your only prizes will ever be shrines or Koroks hits.
Honestly, I'm not unconvinced that it would be a better game if they pulled 20 shrines out and just replaced them with Rupee chests or whatever, at least then there would be a real surprise. My favorite moment in the game was when I discovered the thief's hideout above the waterfall, and all I could in return for that was a Flameblade.

I just played Limbo for the first time today and for me it's gotta be that. The puzzles become more convoluted and explained more poorly, the spacing and geometry of everything less tight, the flow much more disrupted, and the environments much less dynamic. I hit some part with a balloon you had to push to get a wooden pallet to float and from then on it was less about environmental exploration and atmosphere and more about dull puzzles.
>>
>>381048135
If you are where I think you are, you're literally 10 minutes or so away from the end of the game. It's worth beating.
>>
>>381048263
I did beat it but it wasn't 10 minutes away from the end, I'd say it was more like the end of the first 3rd.

>It's worth beating.
Not with that ending it's not
>>
>>381048409
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I found Limbo's ending to be one of the most striking and cool endings in games, and it's what helped me decide to buy Inside.

Minecraft for me. The most fun I have is always starting up a new world, taking a look around, scrounging around for food, mining at night, etc. Then by the time I've got some diamonds and found a nice spot to build a castle I will never finish, all the wind has left my sails. The game will never really expand in difficulty or nuance, I will only be able to break and place blocks with marginal upkeep to make that easier. Knowing that becomes boring. And I don't enjoy creative mode either. And modding doesn't help.
>>
>>381046095
To a certain extent, Final Fantasy 13. The enjoyment went up a bit as I got more party members to utilize, but it immediately went down after the pope/monk/priest boss fight. I really did not like how they treated the ending of the fight where the time I spent did not matter as the boss acted like we didn't have a fight to begin with and took away any satisfaction I had completing the fight. I pretty much dropped the game there.

Yeah I have but I have (who hasn't?) but I have my misgivings about that also. I don't like having this arbitrary ladder to climb with tier after tier of gear to collect. With that as the focus of the game it can always just go on more and more. Just make the numbers bigger, just add more wrungs to the ladder.

Frankly the last major update it had was exactly what I didn't want. I still don't understand the appeal of a taller and taller ladder, or more "end game" as people like to call it.

The thing that actually scratches my "first few days of minecraft" itch is Don't Starve, it's the survival mechanics plus a few other considerations like where and when you build I like.

Basically this. MSQ takes up a massive amount of time and cannot be done co-op, so it's more like "let's get together tomorrow to do that dungeon coming up. Just make sure you're caught up on the story to unlock it!" On top of that, if you wipe once or twice then everyone just leaves. With a group of like minded friends playing the game together in sync, then it's actually pretty fucking good. Even if you wipe in dungeons, you're all learning together so it's a lot of fun. The problem is that there is a shocking amount of single player content you have to go through first. Even if you skip all of the text and fuck the story, that's still a couple of hours of bullshit before you get to do anything cooperatively. It's like you're installing the game but you have to hold the game's hand the whole way. And SquEnix can fuck off with that jump point bullshit. Oh yeah, let me pay you extra just so I can co-op reasonably.

In short, MMOs are fucking garbage. The superior alternative are co-op RPGs, like Phantasy Star Online, Crystal Chronicles, Path of Exile, and Monster Hunter. Why the fuck hasn't SEGA re-released the original PSO with online support? It's literally the easiest way to make money.

really any MOBA after becoming competent, but more specifically SMITE. There's so many smurfs in the game early on, and the poor matchmaking pairs you up with people much higher or much lower than you, which leads to bad experiences for both parties. one of my very first memories of it was playing agni and being called cancer then being told to kill myself

The games fun now though

For me, this is Dark Souls.

I actually tried to return it, and Target wouldn't let me because I opened it. I didn't know the rule because I had never tried to return a game before. I came back to it 6 months later around the summer time and realized Inhad missed the path to the undead burg (I was trying to go through the catacombs)

It then became my favorite game over the next year. I still play it. Really hoping it comes to Switch so I can have a cartridge and a portable version. I will buy the game for every platform.

>returning a game because you have ADHD
>returning a game because it doesn't instantly gratifies you

I guess some people really are entitled fucks.

I'd argue that ToME avoids this, but mostly mouse UI wears on you after awhile worse than learning a keyboard UI for others do

this
the up until O&S it's a well designed, tightly connected world of fun, interesting levels

literally the only level that's interesting or fun to play through after is the archives, everything else takes a nosedive

Yeah, "solving" roguelikes is very boring, but I'm pretty casual so I've never gotten to that point, but it's always there at the edge. You'd think they'd give you more tactical options that weren't spells.
>>
>>381059546
ToME is probably the only Roguelike that could avoid this because it stresses different combat resources and has a lot of different playstyles. Unfortunately the story based progression means the start is always super samey.
>>
>>381060190
Potions, wishes, combat skills (like chance to stun, charge, teleport, etc), wands... Considering most roguelike deaths that aren't just you being a lazy fuckup or getting bad RNG when quaffing is getting stunlocked... I'm not sure what a solution is. There are a lot of bullshit bosses in roguelikes which can end an otherwise godly run.

Anita knows how to force developers and publishers to make artworks such as Battlefield 1 (Female playable characters DLC) and the new, Multiethnic, multiculti, female protaganist, Beyond Good and Evil, as well as identifying the racist, bigoted individuals we successfully targeted in the new Far Cry 5.

stay tuned to 2018!

Fucking this. Becomes too reliant on resources and grinding from floors 20+.

Gitting gud at that point is literally grinding the right weapons and having the right mushrooms to pass the gear checks.

1.) I don't have ADHD.
2.) That's not why I went to return it.

3.)
en·ti·tled
[inˈtīdld, enˈtīdld]
ADJECTIVE
believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment

You come off as someone really eager to call someone else this word... It's not exactly applicable in this instance even if you assume both of your premises are true (they aren't). Did someone maybe call you entitled anon? Did it hurt your feelings? Do you want to talk about it?

I played the phantasy star games on the PSP, they were fun even in solo play. I would really like to play an online game with an infinite number of PS-style randomized dungeons. You know, one that's actually well designed, not Warframe.
