All the fun of RE5 is locked behind the co-op mechanics, and playing with an AI is the no fun allowed mode. Plus it really increased the amount of insta-death moments and it has some really annoying enemies like the guys with riffles who are covered in body armor.
RE6 has rather shitty level design and it takes some time to get used to the gameplay mechanics.

In comparison RE4 is a singleplayer game with tight level design, which is why it feels so good to play. RE5 has the best sound effects and collision technology, and RE6 has the best combat, but even those factors can't help them to be above RE4.

I played this game for the first time not too long ago, and I loved it. I hate the whole resident evil story and lore, and thankfully this game didn't get too involved in it.
More importantly, the gameplay is just so damn good. You can tell everything was thought out and things were placed very deliberately. This game really feels like a video game, which is hard to find nowadays.
