The airship cello track after you wake up was really beautiful and calming yet worrying/saddening in a way, it was a super-atmospheric game greatly due to the OST. You felt helpless, depressed, scared and alone until you find a friend in the middle of enemies, Brown. Than the soundtrack changes and things suddenly seem alot brighter and there's hope. It really puts you in the feet of someone oppressed and helpless, people who were bullied will relate to this game alot.

They weren't hard at all, rather as a game it made for a very boring experience. You can do away with the combat (aside from boss encounters) and the game wouldn't have been any worse for it. That how ridiculously inconsequential and bland a lot of the "gameplay" was.

Even putting aside combat, SH2 actually had better player-interactivity in the way of the set designs/map layout and how interacting with certain objects/characters could very well lead to certain endings.

I say this as someone who does love Rule of Rose though, heck it's kind of why I wish it got better treatment at all compared to other horror games.

Gameplay =/= combat mechanics.

SH had a lot more going for it in terms map layout/level design that actually enhanced the gameplay. The combat hardly played a factor in actually making SH feel alive as a game.

There's a difference between not expecting flashy gameplay in early-mid 2000's horror games (which is you know, the norm) and having gameplay that is so bland that it becomes a burden to the story to the point of being offensive. I'll give that the dog-searching mechanic was a neat idea (if not cumbersome) but that's about it.

I just realised that a collection like that only offers so much personal satisfaction. If people aren't coming over and gushing about how you have this one super cool game that they remember as a kid and man you're so lucky to have it, it loses some of its appeal. So I sold off most of my PS1, SNES and Dreamcast collection and got a new PC, a PS4 and a couple of games, a new tablet and a new external HD. Oh, and a new recliner. I had a lot of rare games.

There's not that many of us that even know this game exists and what little discussion there is mostly to do with the clunkiness of the game mechanics.

That said, Wendy only gets talked about for being the main antagonist so that's to be expected since it's part of the story's big reveal. Diana is obvious waifu material and for anyone who likes the combination of flirty/spiteful.The latter of which I'm guilty of in this thread.

But hey let's change it up. I thought I'd out and out hate the characters with how everything started but as the story rolled along I genuinely felt bad for everyone.
