Redpill me on Mario Kart 7
Compared to mario kart DS, it seems casual and for fun.
Unless you are a shitplayer, you know that mario kart DS allowed for snaking (non stop yellow drifting). It was hard enough to do truly non stop without mistakes, and it allowed good players to go far, far ahead bad players. But in the other hand, snaking had its downsides too - it was kinda annoying to do it non stop, it detracted a little from a game that felt like straight racing.
So, what is the veredict /v/? Did mario kart 7 improve on the snaking formula, by letting you race normally but also giving good players a way to burst ahead doing the more limited drifts (and if so, how? Because I cant figure it out yet, though I admit I sucking at time trials so maybe snaking really is not needed for a competitive mario kart) , or has it ruined the snaking formula which should have stayed the default way to play all future mario karts?

If I recall correctly, you can snake just fine, but the game sucks. There are no individual differences between characters, all of the characters in the same weight tier feel the same and it really detracts from the game.
