During the winter sale, some people were passing around a $5 and under list for some really quality games that really hit a spot big name titles don't. I went ahead and tried Dungeon of the Endless and it completely blew away my expectations. The game felt a bit like FTL, with some better than expected gameplay. Cities: Skylines better go really low on sale or I won't buy them. As much as I like the base-game and the updates, the DLC itself hasn't been really worth the cost, and I dread giving any money to Paradox at this point.
Endless Space 2 was just released and I'm apprehensive about buying it which is why I'm waiting for a sale. Endless Space was garbage, but Endless Legend was magnificent.

I'll also be watching a couple of multiplayer games I already own to maybe buy extra copies for buddies to play with. Factorio is the only example I can think of now. But there are more.

Honestly I've listed more here than I've even considered in the last two or three years. At this point I feel like I already own more or less everything I should own, I think we're seeing more as there are some AAA games that aren't shit, like DOOM, steam expanding the publishers it works with; such as all the nips and I think that indie development has kinda come out of the slump of early access with quite a few titles. Which is to say, back when indie games started booming, early access boomed alongside it. While we've seen a lot of mediocre early access games, the last year or so has seen development end for legitimate indie development that aren't just tossing out an alpha to farm shekels.

I've personally witnessed several of my friends go through long periods of darkness because they decided to sit in a dark room and fantasize about their past, failed relationships instead of experiencing the world. I know that gay relationships usually don't last that long so you will have hard times, but enjoy the good times as you have them.

I have about 300 hours in Endless Legend, also with all its DLC. Its DLC is pretty cheap so they'll probably cost $1-$2 and they add huge amounts of content, including new unique races like evil political crab people, bipolar shapeshifters and barbarian spies.

It plays alot like CIV V, except you can actual dominate the game if you focus on trade or politics.

I'd highly recommend you play Endless Dungeon first as it is technically a prequel to this game, though its more rogue like game like Hyperlight Drifter or Hotline Miami. Its a good game to play if your tired of CIV and cant afford to buy any of Paradoxes games with DLC.

General practice with the current paradox games is to buy the base game and pirate all DLC. It still works with steam.

I'd advise to start with EU3. You need EU3 complete(which isn't complete), heir to the throne and divine wind to be up to date.

It looks the best(3D map is pure cancer) and has the best soundtrack by far. The actual gameplay is complicated, but not so much that you can't figure everything out.

Otherwise go for CK2 or EU4. CK2 is the most simple of their games and you really need to be able to roleplay to give half a fuck about anything. But it's still somewhat interesting and there are certain facets like inheritance and claims that allows a little bit of depth.

EU4 is probably better than EU3 in gameplay, but it's a lot more arcade-like. Most things are done with mystical leader mana points.
I'd also recommend supporting this the least of their good titles, certain features that are almost necessary to play the game half as well as some other players are locked behind DLC.

Vicky2 and HoI2 and HoI3 are dated but are all good.
They're the most simulator-like of the games, Vicky2 doing population classes and politics along with a pretty decent market/production system.

HoI2 is pretty balanced, and HoI3 is pretty boring except it has a great map with a ton of provinces and has really good production and warfare gameplay. However be warned that it is pure order of battle micromanagement autism. Basic gameplay expects you to keep all army groups near a theatre HQ, all armies in their army groups, all corps in an army and all divisions in a corps. And all divisions to be made up of the right brigades.

General status on Stellaris and HoI4 are not touch.
Stellaris presents nice and you can sink a lot of time into it but it's completely hollow even after a DLC designed to trying and fill out the empty parts.

$0 as of now. Really sucks and am quite unpleased about it, as I basically had to skip out on the winter sale thanks to financial issues. Things aren't any better really either.

If I do have any money to spend on them, it would have to be something with multiplayer. These days being a poorfag has made me appreciate pirating a lot more. Especially because so many of these games are not deserving of a $60 price tag. I still like to buy indie games I find fun and believe deserve my money, but there hasn't been a whole lot on that front lately.
