Why aren't cheat codes a thing anymore?

The truth is that videogame magazines don't sell anymore.

Because google ruins everything.

devs are too lazy to make entering them disable cheevos, so they simply don't make them any more.

I play modern stuff like the rest of /v/, but you can't honestly believe Dark Souls is even 1/10 as hard as Battletoads.

In fairness, Battletoads was created back when console games were more or less arcade offshoots, so BT was more or less designed like a quartermuncher. Dark Souls isn't as hard, but it's designed to actually be beaten.

Also Ghosts'n'Ghouls was far harder than Battletoads
