I think the manga is better that way, it adds it's own flair to the story, and it makes some parts better. Like when the bitch gets demoted, in the Ln it was a private demotion, then the news followed. In the manga it was glorious public humiliation.

I'm still sticking with the manga because i want to know how they handle this handsome fucker. In the ln we find out he's the king of a country based on middle-age germany.

Well the translations haven't gotten that far but all signs point that he does think about it but he's got shit to do. In the recent vol 8 he took a moment to appreciate how Raphtalia looked so damn good in miko clothing, and asked her to keep em on once they get back to her world. Al least we get to see more of raphtalia since she's not gonna get stuk in a training camp in some mountains

In Final Fantasy 4 you can equip 2 shields as a Paladin and if any of your allies are low on hp you'll take damage in their place so you can be a 1 man tank for your whole party... Until an enemy uses magic and wipes your whole team.

I fucking love ToME, but I suck at it. The only way for me to even get remotely "far" is if I follow a very strict step by step guide that tells me how to build my character, but it feels like I'm missing half the game. Do you guys have any tips for me to enjoy the game in a more "natural" way? I'm really am at a loss here.

Pick a single skill (that isn't shit) and mold your whole build around it. Invest your stats 50% that scale with that skill and 50% CON. Put half of your skill points into skills that synergize or improve that one skill and the other half in survivability.

Always have an escape via teleport or escape rune. If you're melee, invest in a gap closer.
Have a decent disables like Stun, Confuse, or Silence. Later bosses are immune to some or all of them, but preset bosses aren't difficult. It's rares with dangerous classes that become a problem.
Use them infusions to clear debuffs.
Don't play rogue or shadowblade. They require a completely different (boring) playstyle compared to the other classes.
