What strategy game are you playing these days /v/?
>pic related, what I'm NOT playing
Shogun 2, only strategy game I ever played really
>>381011876
what game is this
>>381011876
Old classics, which is a horrible answer.
Rise of the Reds, Cultures 2, Earth 2150, Anno 2070 (<- newest title, which is sad).
>>381012003
The image has a fucking watermark with the title.
>>381011876
Age of Mythology, Soulstorm.
Still playing Company of Heroes.
get hype for remastered bitches
Replaying AoE2 and Starcraft 1
Probably moving to C&C and some other series once i finish AoE and Starcraft series
>>381011876
doing a playtrhough of the Spellforce games since they were on sale on GOG.
Spellforce 1 was so much better than 2
Total War: Attila
Rewriting history as it should have been
I got Age of Wonders Shadow Magic on sale from GOG and it's fantastic, I've never seen /v/ discuss it. It's kind of like Baldurs Gate but it's a 4X game.
>>381012529
Loved this whole series!
>>381013052
I haven't played the latest two addons, but I am kinda looking forward to Spellforce 3. I hope they can bring back some of the Spellforce 1 RPG and rune mechanics
>>381011876
nice reverse psychology
This game is good but its too early access to fully enjoy ree. Needs like at least twice as many of those tech trait things, more races, more millitary units, and more fleshed out combat system. I would like to see starcraft attack and defense upgrades here. I hate these kinds of games but this one is more rts than shitty turn based base civ shit so it's actually bretty gud. Promising as fug.
>try lethis for the old-school nostalgia
>it's simplistic as fuck
well shit, i don't remember caesar 3 being this bad
>>381013301
Holy shit, I didn't know they were making a 3! Thanks for letting me know, I'd've missed it, it's been so long since 2 and expansions I'd given up on the game.
Forged Alliance Forever
All day
Erry Day
>>381012935
Sounds pretty cool. I'll give it a look
>>381013537
I've been trying to decide whether to get Northgard or Medieval Kingdom Wars.
Red Alert 2 with Mental Omega. Great stuff.
>>381013969
pirate northgard
idk about that other game so its prob just some meme game
I avoided strategy games for many years with the excuse of being too dumb and too lazy to think or just sucking at them too much, but I started playing Endless Legend recently because I was attracted to its fantasy sci-fi aesthetic and the soundtrack. I'm really enjoying the game itself actually. The learning curve is a bit tough, but I'm getting a hang of it.
>>381012273
Can't find the game pre-alpha on steam
>>381011876
That looks cosy
What are some must play strategy games if you're trying to get into the genre?
>>381015736
how far back in time are you willing to go?
>>381015821
Early 00s, maybe late 90s
>>381016060
Total Annihilation, Age of empires 2, Starcraft Brood War, Warzone 2100, Homeworld trilogy, Sacrifice, Red Alert 2, Warcraft 3, Original War, Armies of exigo, Dawn of War 1, Medieval: Total War 2, Empire Earth, Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, Starcraft 2
There's a lot more, but check these out, should be a nice selection.
>>381015736
Age of empires 2 and the conquerors
Red alert
Tiberian sun
Tiberium wars
Dungeon Keeper + deeper dungeons
Civ 5
WC3
SC 1 + brood wars
CoC
>>381015736
From the list those anons already gave you, start with Warcraft 3, i think it would be the best one to make you interested in the genre.
>>381012935
That's not a rts though, it's turn based
What's a strategy game on Steam that's closest to a traditional table top game without being Tabletop Simulator?
>>381016694
>Dungeon Keeper + deeper dungeons
wow, how could i have forgotten, but wouldn't it be more noob friendly to start with 2? also, that DK remake iss pretty good, i'd add it to the list
Any upcoming strategy kinos?
>>381011876
Batmen in the Arkam city
it is a stergy game with buttens
>>381017649
SC:R, if they don't fuck it up
>>381017572
DK1 is tutorial mode for like the first 15 (except 2 in between) levels and only stops holding your hand for the last 5.
Deeper dungeons is just insanely hard even with guides, and it really is for people who really love the game
Personally I hated DK2 but that's just my opinion. About the remake, if you mean war for the overworld I never played it, I really should tho
Since parajew has been outed for being hyperjews, what is a good alternative to Stellaris?
>>381012494
Me too, playing right now.
I don't know why but my game starts slowing down a lot during late game.
>>381014670
>mfw love the game, the art style, everything
>own all the dlcs
>barely make it anywhere in a game since I absolutely suck at it
I remember seeing nearly every endless legend thread being mostly people trying to figure out how to play it.
>>381016694
Where is Supreme Commander and Total Annihilation in that list?
>>381015736
HoMM 3, or 5. All expansions + patches included necessary.
Civilization of your choice, they're all good in their own way.
Alpha Centauri - a bit old but the best Civ game by far.
Endless Legend and Endless Space 2 - successors to the Alpha Centauri school of thought (massively different factions, actual story woven into the game).
>>381012494
my nigga. the only good modern RTS. pity they fucked up with CoH2
>>381015736
At the bare minimum Total Annihilation
Also consider Warcraft 2, C&C 1, Red alert 1 and Dungeon Keeper 2.
>>381018118
>Personally I hated DK2
I thought it was pretty good, more relaxed and fixed some of the problems(like possession)
>war for the overworld I never played it
give it a try, it's actually pretty okay
>>381012529
>Spellforce 1 was so much better than 2
i think they tried really hard to outdo spellforce 1 but it felt lacking. The gutting of the resource system was annoying, BUT having different units instead of just flavors of humanoid infantry was an improvement imo.
Level design did get shittier i have to admiti still can't fucking progress in the phoenix campaign.
>>381011876
Pretty good.
inb4 nostalgia goggles crowd turns up
>>381015736
>>381020904
I remember Dark Reign being fun as, or maybe thats just nostalgia
>>381021818
Dark Reign was great.
Pretty sure all of the three great RTS studios took quite a bit of inspiration from that game, so it must have made rounds even back in the day.
