Certainly not review or gaming journalism sites. I usually go check the premise and gameplay on youtube and see the users Metacritic score. So far it has never failed me.

I watch like 3 different reviews on YouTube and look up gameplay.

The middle scale is the only logical system to work off. Once something is in bad territory what is the point in having 5 different levels of bad? It is bad, there is no reason to bother with any game in that territory.

I don't read reviews. If I'm unsure about a game I'll look up gameplay videos to get an idea of what it's like and if I'll enjoy it.

Rely on scales of 4 or 5, 2 or 3 is a bit too simple to gauge quality. When you use those you're either saying play it or don't

I ignore all reviews and just play what looks fun to me.

I can usually get a feel for whether I'll enjoy a game by watching gameplay footage. Review scores are worthless by themselves, what matters more is why the reviewer justified giving the game that score and whether the points they brought up are in line with what you look for in a video game.

Because it's not actually reviewing the content it's solely based around, it's also reviewing how many people may actually find it enjoyable, which is why 10/10's are so rare, they are games that will appeal to literally everyone.

Combination of metacritic review score and user score, in addition to watching gameplay if I am unsure on its gameplay. Gotta use both metacritic scores as alone they are susceptible to bias like journalism hiveminds or user protest reviews.

Seriously, everything you need to know is in those. You're already interested in the game, so you've already seen the things you like. Negative reviews tell you whether it actually holds up.

If a game comes out I just check around a bit to get a general idea for what it's about and then if it interests me I'll buy it. That's pretty much it.

I watch gameplay on YouTube from different people that aren't playing the game promotionally.

Seriously, the advent of YouTube has been the best thing ever for getting unbiased impressions from vidya. Just open a video and mute it, boom, 30 minutes of nothing but gameplay.

That being said, if I want details about things coming out, I usually just drop by a GB or Polygon video for info.

I buy a game if it seems interesting. If not I move on to the next one. Reviews are inherently biased and I don't want anyone to sway my opinion before I even try the game myself.

Not really, at least if you weed out who to listen to. People who say "it's great" or "It's shit" aren't worth listening to, but if people take the time to line out why they dislike or like a game and it doesn't have a plethora of buzzwords, chances are you can consider their opinion

I go to youtube after the game is released. Look for some playthrough with decent thumbnail. See if it looks good and then consider buying it. Usually end up not buying it 'cause I don't have money just laying around to buy every game I think looks good. Here's a Tesseract.
