Is it a bad idea to start the Final Fantasy series with this game?
Sort of since X is the peak of the series by a decent margin
no. It's a great place to start.

It's probably best to play it first so you don't realise how shit it is, yea.
FFX is literally the last good FF game. And no amount of crying from FFXII fags will change this.
It is a good place to start, just don't play anything after it.

What about X-2?
>>381009267
Yes. Don't listen to shitters who say you have to start with the first.

good places to start would be

>6
>7
>9
>10

X-2 is....alright but I personally found the charlies angels thing a bit too much. It wraps every thing up in terms of story though, which is nice.
I personally only play it so I can getThe happy ending Tidus deserved

FFX is good but the battle system is different than in the other games which mostly use ATB
You can just play any FF honestly, there isn't a connection between them except for X and its direct sequel X-2 or the XIII trilogy
>>381009267
Yes. The remakes of 3 and 4 are good places to start, along with 7.
>Is it a bad idea to start the Final Fantasy series
Probably

Play the PS2 version instead, you can emulate it.

>she gets completely ruined in FFX-2
Thanks Toriyama you unyielding hack
>>381009267
Yes, because it sucks. You'll think every FF game is a corridor simulator.
>>381010942
this is honestly the worst FF girl from any game
pic related is best girl

>manages to make her dream husbando real at the end of x-2
>x-3 kills him off with an explosive blitzball
lel
If you want to appreciate X/X-2, then yes by all means play it first.
If you want to be a typical /v/egan edgelord, then play VII and then cry about how shit X/X-2 is.
Honestly I played it on the PS2 and I don't regret it.

>Liking 7 is edgy
>>381012452
>Honestly I played it on the PS2
you say that like it's an achievement? Was PS3 your first console or something?
not really.
in fact X might be one of the best starting points. it gradually introduces a lot of classic final fantasy elements that are all but gone in the later entries.
i'd pin X as the last of the "classic" final fantasy games.
FFVII is also a classic.
I played one on the DS, I couldn't figure out how to save and fought a warewolf enemy that one shot me. These games are all really stand alone.
I also could not enter a town as a outline scared my character away.
Ten is alright. Nostalgia aside it's not stellar in any single aspect, but it's certainly the best of the enix generation of shitty final fantasies.

>Showing off this booty
>Ruined
Yeah, no
>>381009267
kinda, it has voice acting for most dialogue, extremely linear, and has one of the more fleshed out worlds of all final fantasies.
i would start with the old 2d ones first, then progress chronologically.

That's the FF3 remake. Shouldn't need a FAQ for the first hour of the game.
>>381009267
It's not the worst idea. There are better, but it's a start. If you get bored, feel free to jump elsewhere. X really doesn't prepare you for any other entry (Well besides X-2 naturally.), because its systems and structure only concern itself.
Not at all. They are all different and separate games
