Thing is I feel with the staff changes from II to III Kratos' character got fucked up. I hope their take on the "Bruce Banner instead of The Hulk" will clear some things up. He went from an anti-hero to a straight up villain in a span of two hours or however long it takes from GoW II and III. Going from "I won't let you destroy Sparta!" in his battle against Zeus in the second game, to flooding the world and destroying Sparta in the first five minutes of the third. From what I see from the trailer, Loki is tricking Kratos into starting Ragnarok. Seeing as it's Loki's sons Jormungar and Fenrir who seem to be in the trailer too. The issue is Ragnarok is literally fate, and unlike the Greek pantheon, it's all destined and played out.

The whole issue is Odin is destined to die by Fenrir etc etc.

So either Kratos prevents Ragnarok proper and just kills the gods for no reason, or Kratos isn't going to just go around killing the gods this time.

It's a complicated Mythology to use, way more than the greek one.

Sparta, the manliest city, where men were raised for nothing but war, and women were raised for nothing but childbirth, adopted Athena as their patron. Freyja on the other hand, is much more about femininity and family. She pines for her often-absent husband, and is invoked in matters of love and community. Freyja holds no hatred for men, unlike Odin, and only bears arms for hunts and self-defence.

This is one of those games whose gameplay doesn't really attract me that much. Compared to the original, it just seems much more boring and less dynamic. However, I'm actually intrigued by the story, specially how Kratos will fit this new world he's in.
In the first GoW the story was more of an afterthought for me; just go forward and keep killing. But in this one I'm actually interested.
A pessimist would say that they got GoW completely upside down and thus it will be shit, but this approach seems engaging enough to want to me to give it a go.
