TWWH had a shit ton done for optimization and is the most optimized of the new TW. It doesn't individual combat, has cut back some graphical fluff like dynamic fire, unit sizes are smaller and is on 64 bit. I like the variety in comparison to other TW games, but something feels off.

The map was absolutely massive in comparison, there's a ton of scripted events, each province is a kingdom in is own right. Magic, although basic, was actually a game changer since they're more like rapid fire artillery on steroids. Chaos is split into a faction for each god + chaos dwarves and beastmen were their own faction. All elves are included. Empire Halberdiers were actually really fucking scary, vampire count skeletons didnt look goofy as shit and actually came with archers and crossbows and human soldiers, the dwarves are incredibly fucking durable, etc.

Lore reasons, Vampire Counts skeletons and zombies are very weak compared to the Tomb Kings undead because Vampires got their power from the elixer of life and it gets weaker with each generation. VC also like to scare their enemies by getting up close and personal and showing them what they will become. It's just lore stuff and it honestly makes it pretty balanced, imagine having an unbreakable front line that holds until the last man with archers behind. I havent tried that version yet. I'll have to check it out. Most of my experience has been with dwarves and vampire counts which I enjoyed a lot. Maybe those factions play a lot better. I only tried Chaos Dwarfs, Lizardmen Dark Elves, since I can't already play them in TWW. None of the campaigns were very eventful. In all three was, for the most part, unopposed as I amassed a giant army and reached the boring part of Total War games where you can steamroll everything.

Yes actually I do because they've done the same with all the past Total War games and when the game goes on a massive discount i'll get it. I stick by my principal policy of never buying a game with Day 1/preorder DLC at launch. I'm going off memory here so it may be fuzzy but Vampire Counts haven't had ranged units ever since the Undead codex split in Warhammer Fantasy rules since 3rd edition onwards. I do believe they had them in 2nd edition and earlier though. It has been a very long time since i played WH Fantasy though and I haven't really kept up since then.

The goofiness is the best part. There is something far more menacing about it than having them move around with generic soldier animations. It's sort of like how bugs move is goofy as shit, due to their skeleton being on the outside, but it is also creepy as fuck at the same time.

I stopped playing the game because it takes 5 minutes to load a fucking battle. The game runs at a smooth 60ish but with those load times and garbage ass TW map gameplay it's a slog to play
