Sega of America went for Rock music because they thought the techno-heavy Japanese soundtrack wouldn't fit for their idea of American Sonic.

Of course today America loves Electronic music so this decision is quite funny to look back at in retrospect.

JP. using US music is like listening to english dubs except more gross.
