Why does every one love open worldgames like skyrim. Im more into game like dishonerd and half life, a clear path to the game but some exploration is possible in the levels. What does /v think?

In my opinion, an open world game done right is better than a linear game done right.
A poorly done linear game, on the other hand, is far better than a poorly done open world game.

non linear > linear
This goes for all elements of a game: character progression, story, world exploration, combat control mechanics, music even.
More freedom to do what you want and get the control and result you want.
But too much open world is boring. Look at FFXV. Too much empty

Open world has never been done right, though. I'm tempted to argue that it can't be, since the amount of time and energy needed to create a perfect one would be astronomical.>>380986058
