After Half-Life 2.
Every company got greedy with the expansion of online marketing... They can now sell anything, even bad games.
Plus, EA would go bankrupt if they made the Frostbite engine moddable. It's literally their only asset. Amazing optimization and crazy destruction.
Imagine if Battlefield 3 could be modded?
People would have made WAY better mods than Hardline, 4, or 1... even Battlefront! And people wouldn't keep buying EAs copy-pasta games and shitty DLCs.
