Make a hunter if you want to make good money and do massive damage to pretty much anything. Hunter's elemental arrows make a ton of enemies a cakewalk that would otherwise be a pain in the ass with your high Dex and extra damage, and most skills can keep enemies at bay long enough for you to manhandle them.

With a high level hunter, you can make enough money and farm so you can go alchemist tree to fucking dominate PvP with those bombs.

The easiest character to level with absolutely nothing on you is an archer, absolutely nuking everything with arrow shower. Then you can save some money from selling your spoils. This is not a well balanced game, but a game where you play overpowered character first and then build another character you actually like. You might want to multiclient and use a priest and sage as you level up your archer, so that you cut down on hp and sp potions. Crafting weapon with blacksmith is absolutely worthless in ALL phases of the game be it, don't even bother.

I think it's a mix of new expansions ruining the game, along with the small userbase, so it's too fragmented, people want to play classic or trans while some want renewal, and the nature of ALL online games is to die, including MMORPGs of course.

Ragnarok Online was built for servers with over 5,000 people playing, and slaying shit all the time to keep things working, this is why the game is dead. Only iRO and officials have a lot of players, the rest is like a 500 pop private servers while 70% of that are autovendors.

The game simply was built for high populations, otherwise it's like trying to play a team based FPS with like 1 player on each team. Sure you can have fun that way in some way, but you're not getting the full deal.

I really liked the party gameplay of RO, being a priest, all those skills you had, partying with wizards, bard/dancer and shit, that kind of gameplay isn't found in any other MMORPG to me. Shit like WoW isn't as dynamic, you don't have all those skills interacting, you know the way pneuma cancels safetywall and whatnot, tanking asura with safetywall, using decrease agi to counter some buffs, safetywall tanking, there's a layer of depth in the skills of Ragnarok Online that you simply don't have in other games of the same genre.

Get a good weapon ASAP. Cheap armor is fine, but you need an upgraded weapon to progress at a reasonable pace.
Weapons can be upgraded at a shop in each major town.

If you're melee, prepare to use a lot of potions.

Progression in RO takes a LOT of time if you aren't using exploits. Train on things that are EASY - Killing 1 hard monster is rarely worth as much as killing 10 easy monsters.

Don't get discouraged if you die. It's very easy to wander into a high(er) level zone and get your shit pushed in with just a few hits. Modern map should show level ranges to avoid this.

You won't start feeling any kind of power until 2nd job, which can take awhile.

Its balance, LK have the absolute best HP modifiers so they can go without a shield. LK were buffed by given more offensive buffs, like Aura Blade and Concentration and having a high spike damage skill like Spiral Clash. LK are still hands down the best MVP pullers, load up on VIT and LUK get some status protection against Chaos and you can pull any MVP from anywhere because you can spam Concentrate.
