It is on Nintendo's schedule, will probably finish development in two years. Nintendo chose to reveal Prime 4 early because they thought it would be weird to just show off a Metroid 2 remake for handhelds. They didn't want another Fed Force scenario.

It's at the forefront of their development schedule. It has the highest priority of any nintendo-developed games at the moment, so a two to three year wait for it probably isn't unrealistic.

Not much yet, other than it finally being in development. Hopefully it has some space gameplay and isn't just wandering around a station looking for upgrades.

I actually love this teaser as a piece of marketing.

Nintendo knows full well that fans are upset and bitter over OM and FF, and feeding off that hunger for a proper return to form, they take the minimalist approach and just say the words "Metroid Prime 4", and exit stage left like a fuckin' rock star. It's the advertising equivalent of a mic drop.

This was disgusting, manipulative, and utterly brilliant. I can't help but respect the sleezy bastards for this one. And then they delivered a one-two punch by announcing Samus Returns.

I've heard people say Nintendo probably just threw this together for the spotlight and are starting development as we speak.

I kinda doubt that personally though. I mean, we got a teaser for asylum at the end of Federation Force which, conveniently, goes hand in hand with the ending of Prime 3, so I feel the Federation Force team must have known this was in development while making that game?

Even as a Nintendo fanboy I can't defend this, they marketing'd themselves into a corner and sooner or later people will realize that the switch was a panic release after the giant wii u flop and is just lacking games as the consoles before.

yes. the old games like original metroid and Gameboy one doesnt give you a map, the remakes will be easier to know where to go, however look out for Samus Returns, the melee move looks like it might be a overpowered gimmick though.

My favorite part of the reaction videos is that you can always tell who's an actual fan of the series. They recognize the S. Then, in a moment of weakness, they let slip some excitement, but quickly suppress it because they will not be burned again. Then the title fades in, and they completely lose their shit. You won't see me complaining about that. While I still love Prime 3, it's obvious that there was a tone of stuff that was supposed to be in it, but they simply didn't have time.

The main thing I'm hoping for is more gunship stuff. The ship is damn near as iconic to the series as Samus herself, so it was nice that Corruption gave it more of a role. Hopefully Prime 4 will expand it further.

They used the Metroid Prime 1 title theme.

It's literally the perfect choice, since it's both objectively the best version of the theme for the atmosphere the game conveys, and the version most likely to punch us all right in the nostalgia.
