Depends on the game.

Flying game - Inverted like how a plane controls

althought when adjusting the camera in any game, i think i like it inverted.

>>
If you don't invert at least the Y axis, you're a newfag and here's why: most games during and before the PS2 era had Y inverted by DEFAULT. Morrowind is an extremely clear example in my mind.
>>
>>380966517

In most shooter games, the crosshair doesn't actually move vertically across the screen when aiming up or down, as the cursor does when moving the mouse to navigate the menu. Vertical aiming is a rotation of the camera while the crosshair, in relation to the screen, remains stationary. It's very different.
>>
>>380966364
ESDF is good if you need over 15 buttons bound and your hand isn't small. Also learning to use it takes like a day and once you do, you can just switch between WASD and ESDF without skipping a beat.

Except we don't tilt our head left to look right.

>>
There's no intrinsic relationship between "thumb forward" and "look up". Likewise with "thumb back" and "look down". This control scheme """makes sense""" if you hold the controller upright and observe that forward is up and back is down, but you're not thinking about this while you play unless you're a retard or a small child playing his first video game.

Controls in video games, despite having become somewhat standardized within genres, are completely arbitrary. You can teach yourself any retarded-ass control scheme and become good at it, if you want to. That's why playing inverted isn't harder for people who are used to it. Any logical or intuitive explanation for why a specific control scheme was chosen -- "up is up", for example -- is useful only the very first time you play. After the controls are learned, it's meaningless, because you don't need to apply that logic again each time you interact with the game.

That is, unless you're retarded.
>>
>>380964389

The fact that you had to use two different verbs for the same action tells me you're not in full control of the language. Tilting your head back is the same as looking up. There are the same. If someone telling you to tilt your head back, they could have just as well said tilt your head up. Back and Up are the reason this stupid thread is still going on. I never figured out which one is "inverted" some games have inverted off and it's the same as inverted on in another game.

I mean more commonly I think if you push the right stick right and see more to your character's right it's "normal" and if you push right to see left it's inverted but if you think of actually moving a floating camera around it moves right when you push right in the one that is supposedly inverted so really it should be normal.

It's a weird transition, when I was playing through an old save of MGS2 I couldn't function in first-person mode.

I don't care how the game renders or calcuates it. The game is depicting up and down movement. So it's a 3D game.
