I haven't played the original Splatoon but I'm open to buying the second one. Mario Odyssey is going to be great. I have yet to play Breath of the Wild, but I'm sure it's good.

I somewhat liked Xenoblade Chronicles but what I've seen from 2 looks really bad. Metroid Prime might be good, but there are plenty of ways in which Nintendo can fuck it up. Mario Rabbids might be good, but I'm worried it might be too easy.

You don't understand how it works. Nintendo fans mainly play on PC, but every once in a while, Nintendo brings out a game that's just better than anything else we've played said year. This years example was BotW. When it came out, i took a break from PC gaming for 2 weeks and blowed the dust from my wii U to play this game that, again, blew away everything that ive played the past 2 years on PC. The same is going to happen with mario odyssey.

Such as? NieR was a solid 7/10. I dropped the witcher 3 because it's nto for me. I don't like story heavy video games. Games liek the witcher make you want to continue playing so you can see what happens next. It's got very interesting characters, setting and story. I rarely find me carrying so much about what happens next. Anyway, my first dungeon was the one witht hat sexy warping witch where you follow the swallow signs and try to catch up to the Hunt. After beating the golem and the dungeon in general. I realized that i hadn't had any fun with the game. Not because it's not a good game, but again, it's not for me. The combat and gameplay in general didnÄt appeal to me. Also, the game looks great, but it's always just plain looking woods with mountains here and there, you canÄt interact with anything. You can't even cut the grass. I have tons of better looking landscapes here in my town for example.
I could go on and on about the games i played on PC, nothing comes close to Breath of the wild. Again, The last time i could say the same thing about a game on a nintendo console, was 3 years agow ith bayonetta 2. Nice blog post on The Witcher 3 but BOTW gets so boring and stale after the first 10 hours it makes me wonder if you're not just a full on Nintendo drone. Aside from classics which are all much better that you could've spend your time with the last 3 years I much more enjoyed DOOM, Talos Principle, Deus Ex MD, Infinifactory and Hotline Miami 2 (which run on toasters but are still the best games on this list) and Scholar Of The First Sin much more than BOTW after the first 10 hours (which were amazing but I hated probably everything else).

If you really enjoyed doom more than breath of the wild, i guess we have vaaastly different tastes. I dropped that game 1 and a half hours in.
And yes, NieR isn't what i expected it to be. It's not the games' faults in any way. I was expecting a DMC-like game with JRPG elements and amazing boss fights with satysfying combat. It was more story heavy and the level design was very very simplistic. Also, the music didn't fit in with the game. You could copy paste the OST into any other japanese game and it would fit Except kono mama ja dame which was the only soundtrack that actually felt it belonged in neir automata . The OST is amazing though in general.
My biggest problem with the game though where the Lack of bossfights. Again, i expected a DMC3-like game. Don't know why. The highlight of the game for me was self destructing, setting up the camer angles and getting wet.

Is there any way to play Wii U or older games on the Switch? I'm going to get one for Zelda and future games, but there's also older titles that I've missed out on that I'm interested in like Super Mario Maker.

Yoshi and Kirby look cool, Mario Odyssey looks fantastic and Super XCOM: Rabbids within might be fun, I'm excited that there is a new Metroid Prime, but after Federation Force which was also technically a Metroid Prime game and the fact that this isn't a Retro Studios game I'm cautious until there is gameplay footage

It's not exactly lack luster, it feels like it doesn't have much weight to it. But it's probably because of the enemies. There's barely any variety. 95% yes, 95%, of the time you're fighting literal tin cans with red glowing eyes to telly ou when to dodge. The combat could work if there were better enemis to take advantage of it.

The Nintendo went from a console with one unexclusive flagship game and nothing else of note to having the potential to be slightly more than that by the end of 2018
Splatoon 2, Xenoblade, and Odyssey are the only worthwhile things on the horizon (maybe that square rpg but idk when thats out, looks cool as fuck).
Because rabbids, ARMS, and FE warriors: 3ds games edition look like/are shit. Yoshi on the horizon doesn't look promising either but neither did the initial wooly world footage, craft artstyle is uglier and lazier than Wooly World's.
And then in 2018 and beyond we have Kirby, Metroid Prime 4, Pokemon and ?????. I'm sure there will be more but we have no idea what they'll be now.
Everything was looking great for the WiiU in 2014-2015 and then Iwata died and the console effectively dropped off entirely for 365 days until BOTW released, after that Nintendo consoles are only going to interest me when they have enough to offer me now, I'm not buying into potential anymore because I love the WiiU but it has a ton of unrealized potential.
