/v/, what do you think would be the ideal close combat system?

You don't seem to be satisfied with anything, so I just wanted to ask a question.

This problem is that the original combat system is obtuse and the people who have put in the effort into learning that system want their invested effort to continue being rewarded. This is the same thing that happened with DmC and to a lesser extent Dark Souls 2.
