I actually have a PCI-e passthrough set-up for running Windows in a VM on top of Linux. Had to install regular Windows to overclock Ryzen since I didn't want to bother trying to find good programs to test overclocks for stability in Linux. Use the 960 as the host and the 1080 for Windows.

Either that or something get's too hot, my temps are not the best. Recently found out you're supposed to change water once a month on watercoolers, I haven't done that in 5 or 6 years. It might also be time to clean the computer, I'm pretty sure the dust filters will be full when I remove them.

Ahh, see if there's an actual problem with it, that's different. If you can isolate that problem to your CPU, then definitely. But I kinda doubt that'd be it.

One more thing I forgot about is you can run faster RAM with a new CPU. That might be worth it. Your temps are kinda high, but nothing I'd be worried about really. Within operating temperatures, from that screenshot anyway, if it's too much higher under load, that'd be a problem. Give it a good clean and you're probably fine.

Hmm yeah that's pretty high. Still within operating temp but really close to the max. I would definitely expect way under that with a water-cooled system, my 3570k with the fucking stock cooler never got that hot.

Definitely give it a good dusting and change that water, might also re-apply thermal paste because that shit has been on there for like half a decade now, right? Normally I wouldn't bother with that, but it's a possible point of failure to rule out.
