Instead they just keep remaking games that already had huge budgets and sold millions and were damn near perfect the way they were. The only time remakes work out well is when the original had room to improve like Resident Evil 1's laughable visuals and VO, you don't remake something that was already perfect.

Evangelion wasn't a thing when Xenogears started production, it's more of a happy accident that show took off just before Xenogears released and there are so many superficial similarities.

I am 1000% happy with their decision to change this, it would have completely destroyed his character. Dickson worked perfectly for the role. Fiora staying dead would have been fine too, though Sharla instead of Melia just proves they have always hated Melia even from the start.

The fanbase behind this game is really mystifying, especially considering its age.

Fuck you man. All xenogames are great.

The Hammer betrayal is one of the most shocking "what the fuck... ?" moment in the whole game. And it's done by a random NPC that suddenly knows his weaknesses and alies with the main villain and kills the mother of a main character, only to become a giant beast of flesh not long after.

This fucking game. This god damn game. They don't make plots like this anymore. It's depressing.

Depends on what you're into. They don't really connect in any meaningful ways only references and recurring character archetypes really. Gears is a PS1 JRPG and feels like one, Saga is another story have JRPG, Blade has actiony MMO style combat with more of a focus on characters rather than plot, X is about exploration and has a nearly paper thin plot.

I'd say either Gears, X, or Blade. Whichever you can get your hands on easiest really they're all so different.. Saga is probably best played after Gears since it's so referential to it even if they aren't directly connected. You could still start with Saga if you wanted to though.They all kinda work as entry points. Well except if you jump into Saga on Episode 2 or 3, but that would be silly.

I played this game when I was like 16 and going through some really bad times at home.

The characters being in pain but working through it helped me a lot. Even when all was lost on the second disc, Elly shows that life is full of small mercies and all you can do is what you can do. It does kind of take a walk with big topics, religion, cults, technology, manipulation, pain suppression, but it all comes together. It is a mite pretentious here and there in the era of 2017 but that's because we have a bunch of fucking cynics.

I really love Xenogears.
