Closest comparison is Phoenix Wright with some comparisons to Persona's confidant social links.
Second game is better than the first and in terms of difficulty escalates perfectly.
Just don't look at anything related to it until you've done.

Also the anime is shit even if it is the conclusion

It's like the phoenix wright series but darker, with better investigating, worse trial gameplay due to gimmicks, and Persona-esque free time segments. Kinda better to watch than play.
