Most mainstream games are well-made/"good" in a sense and criticism towards them tends to stem from "pandering to lowest common denominator" designs (in which they are all equal). For example, I'm pretty sure Call of Duty has all the key gameplay aspects like satisfying gunplay as well as technical aspects like UI and stability covered. Conversely, Skyrim is a buggy mess that, shallowness aside (which goes for granted), has weightless combat, terrible quests, awkward animations... you name it. Some aspects of it are passable but most of them are mediocre and many are legitimately really bad (think of the UI in which it takes several times more time and actions to do stuff than it should).

Fire Emblem: Awakening is genuinely among the worst in its genre, but it has a self insert that can marry other characters so it's 10/10 to casuals.

It's okay, a slight upgrade from Oblivion. Extremely overrated. I really hope people won't be buying it for Switch and for VR for 60 dollars.

The only things Skyrim did better than Oblivion were graphics and certain aspects of combat.

The skills were watered down, the quests were unimaginative, the magic combat was sub-par, and the story was an asspull and had very few redeeming qualities.

I may be being a little hard on the story cause I'm lorefag tho, and the fact that the Dragon War was never mentioned pissed me off. But so did the fact that Cyrodiil wasn't a jungle in Oblivion so idk.

Caves, forts, and other dungeons in Skyrim are way better than Oblivion's. Oblivion had literally one guy in charge of designing every dungeon in the game, and it really fucking shows.

Skyrim's leveling is also way less obnoxious, un-immersive, and unbalanced compared to Oblivion.
