Its a big ol place for a company to flaunt their fancy new tech and games, building awareness for their products to boost sales as all eyes are on the con. Also gives girls excuses to cosplay in skimpy video game outfits.

Learn basic marketing, a big flashy sign with new stuff will draw more attention then some random add in the newspaper on a random day.

It's great, i don't understand how E3 could be considered pointless or dumb at all. It's literally just seeing early previews of games to come. If you enjoy video games then it's great.
