Because I don't need a new pc, my old trusty machine does high resolutions and refresh rates just fine, and there is little reason or incentive to build a pc in that price range.
Not a fan of console wars and uncreative spam either.

I build my PC like 3 years ago and I don't think I need to upgrade yet.

this build is trash and will perform worse at 4k compared to the x1x

that being said though, you can swap that 8350 for like a pentium and upgrade the 470 to a 1060 and you'll get similar or slightly worse performance compared to the x1x at 4k. but then again you can also get 1080p60 in like 9/10 games so it's better anyway.

GNU/Linux based OSes are Free, and can run software from any source. Thousands of native games, tens of thousands of games through compatibility layers and emulators which basically puts it in the same shape as Windows 10 other than better support for pre D3D10 games, and worse support for D3D11+ games.

The fact is, at this moment, you cannot build a PC of equivalent power to the XboneX (and I'm not talking paper specs, consoles can do more with power then PC's because of less overhead, something that DX12 and Vulcan are helping to alleviate) at a $500 price point. That may change when Ryzen3 and Vega release, but right now you can't.
