You're gonna be hard pressed to find open world milsim gameplay outside of the usual suspects. STALKER might be a good compromise, though they're hardly "open world" (and the first one is the most open one)

If you just want open world and shooting with missions and vehicles, there are many options, though. Just Cause, for example.

This is pretty fun if you have low expectations.

STALKER sounds perfect for you. Its open enough. The first one's area is roughly the size of the first island in Far Cry 2. And since you have to walk everywhere, it seems even bigger

It's also a highly crafted FPS experience with a good plot and mysterious lore to unconver
