In the case of StarCraft, everything became much more clean.
Ruined the aesthetic. The maps became much more basic and mechanical, not organic

Starcraft 2 came out like 15 years later, and somehow has less units with less abilities. Multiplayer games have regressed in order to make them competitive.

Smash 4 was made ENTIRELY to be competitive, so every map is just final destination, and a lot of the characters have similar move sets.

Why is the World Jewery so yottatriggered by E-Sports?

We can blame League. Also, it's a trend, just like platformers were a trend, and turn based RPGs, and Collecthatons and Cover-shooters, etc. It'll fade into normality eventually, but there are still games that are still great fun and don't have the controlled eSports aesthetic ie.Titanfall. (please play it, the player base is dying, please /v/ help)

I really think a lot of people on /v/ hate esports just to hate it.

I am completely indifferent to it.

It really wasn't. Sakurai never wanted Smash to be competitive and he has never liked the idea of Smash being a competitive game.
But in order to appease the competitive players, Smash 4 had a mode with pretty much all features cut. Assuming that's what competitive players wanted. Which is amusing since that wasn't even the case. But yeah.
