Tekken is the worst fighting game I've played in a long time for a casual fan / first time player.
>No proper tutorial
>80 different move memorization fest
>No consistent input patterns across all characters like most 2d fighters
>Movesets are visually very boring and similar

On the plus side you can probably sink infinite time into this game because of how complex it is.

I just want to make it clear to babbies who are just picking up this series now, this is a much nerfed Tekken:

>any punch breaks generic throws
>easier get-up game
>backdash doesn't have to be cancelled to block
>armor moves for escaping pressure
>supers with armor for asspull wins
>sidestep nerfed (which is something experts agree on, but still)

The skill level for this game is way lower compared to TTT2 and 6.

The last tekken game I played was 3 when I was much younger and I barely played it. I didn't play any other tekken till 7 cause I wanted a new fighting game to play and was getting tired of Capcom/Arcsys fighters which I only played casually anyway.

Let me tell you, for a newcomer to the series this game is amazing. Initially it seems really daunting when looking at the movelist but you realize how you can just focus on a few moves and delve deeper into the more complex moves as you play more. The Rage art mechanics that I've seen other people complain about was only a problem for like the first few hours. They are so incredibly easy to see coming and simply block that I don't know why anyone who's played the game for more than a few hours would ever complain about them, specially pros.

I've had a great time the past 2 weeks learning the fundamentals of tekken in general and its been extremely rewarding. the veterans in the community like Aris from atp are extremely helpful to beginners and its great.

each match i feel like im getting better and learning matchups and movesets more. even losing doesnt feel bad cause its a learning experience, usually the next time you play a matchup you lost to, youll learn to block that low or w/e that hit you

its the only fighting game i want to keep playing and get better at and learn strings and the movement nuances. i like how you dont have to be autistically precise like capcom/arcsys games, there a happy balance of approachability and theres still really technical stuff in there for nearly every character to learn and feel rewarded.

this game pretty much made me an instant fan of tekken and made me wish i had played the series more earlier, i think most veterans see that too judging by the community elsewhere

Armor moves aren't even good. If you get grabbed you can't break it and they are telegraphed so a good player knows to grab.

Her stances aren't that hard to work with. d+1+2 goes into the ducking one that usually goes into 2 or 3 which are either a really safe launcher that looks like a low to half the people I play or a retardedly plus homing move. KNK is a little weirder but you usually go into it from b+1, 4 or f+4 which are both like +8 if you do something off it and then pick your mixup from there, and from there it only gets really weird when you try to do crouch dash cancel shit off of it.

There's merit to that argument, but I would imagine it's more complacency than an intentional plan, the sort of sphere of information around fighting games keeps growing. When the game is in arcades, not even slated for release on console for a year, and full detailed character guides, optimized combos and strategies, and frame data all exist online you just don't see the point in putting infodumps in the game itself since it's all a google search away, and most likely won't be touched by the new players anyway.

I went to a small local (22 players) and only saw 1 other drag player, most overused here where Steve and Bryan. If anything, people knowing Drag's tricks and punishable moves can help condition you so that you stop doing them and make sure your wins aren't just lack of matchup knowledge.
