I don't even think you can really compare the two. They are two very different styles of hover racer. F-Zero is undoubtedly faster and more exhilarating, but Wipeout requires more skill and finesse.

F-Zero is Burnout. Wipeout is Gran Turismo.

To be fair (and I say this as a WipEout fan who has only played F-Zero X for about an hour), WipEout was essentially dead until Sony resurrected its corpse to show off the PS4 Pro. I can only guess that Nintendo feels that FZ isn't part of the market it wants to focus on nowadays, whereas WipEout is a core of what made the original PlayStation a hit outside of Japan.

People give sony alot of shit but for some reason they keep games / franchises around even if they don't sell particularly well and they also tend to make some very niche games. I remember when stuff like freedom wars and oreshika came out for the vita which were both made by sony I believe. They sold like shit but I liked both of them. Gravity rush is another example of a game that even got a sequel despite low sales.

I liked Oreshika. Maybe it's because I have autism but it I really enjoy grinding to see numbers go up. No map for the dungeons was a bit shit though, especially since you have a time limit.

Beating the game in under 100 years is not the problem, the dungeons themself are timed. It's been quite some time since I played it but I think every 3 or 5 minutes it tells you that you explored for a month or so and that you can either go back or keep exploring. Since low vit permanently kills your characters it's not always possible to keep exploring while some dungeons are so gigantic that you can't even reach midway point before a month passes.

It sucks because Wipeout was never good. Wipeout has always been a poor imitation of F-Zero. Sony fans always, always super overrate their games. Crash was a mascot platformer ripping off Mario and it wasn't even good. None of the Crash games were good but Sony fans still act like they are. They still champion CTR and said it was better than any Mario Kart game but CTR is literally a clone of one of the worst Mario Karts, MK64. It sucks. It's funny that Sony fans want another all stars battle royale or whatever it's fucking called. They don't even have enough "all stars" for a roster and had to include way more third party characters than they should have. The inclusion of the big daddy was weird because that game was initially exclusive to 360 for a year or longer.

tl:dr, Wipeout isn't F-Zero so it sucks.
